Most factions already get 2-3 different varieties of infantry. With warlord faction integration, you can get stormtroopers on top of that via integrating the Empire. Special kinds of infantry can be obtained via starting forces, mission rewards or as field base spawns during ground battles.

Keep in mind that you can only fit so many units on the build bar at once.
