My working hours don't leave much time for working on the mod and testing it, but so far it seems fine. As for the success rate, thats hard to tell as nothing in the mod code wise should be preventing it from working some of the time. Only thing i can think of is the server is some how corrupting the dino data, so it fails to spawn because it doesn't know what to spawn. Or there is a desync occuring between the client and server, so the server just does nothing and the item gets eaten with no dino spawning.

Currently working on a way to do it through a buff, this just means that the item will give the dino a buff that will turn the dino into an item and give it to you and then delete the dino. When you spawn the dino you would be given a buff that would then read the data of the dino and spawn it. This could eliminate the server desync issue since the buff is class as an actor(means it can do more stuff then an item), but it could also give more issues getting the data from the item into the buff to spawn the dino.


Updating the mod might not make old dinos spawn correctly but it should improve it for new ones turned into items. Once i release the new update the empty pocket dino item will be set so it doesn't stack in the hope that it stops it from messing up sometimes and being unusable. All stacks of it will revert to 1 and you will lose some empty ones if they are stacked

I figure this is a pretty hard one to troubleshoot or fix. The buff sounds like a cool idea. It should allow for more validation at least. I wont wait for new version to open my old dinos then based off this.

ah that explains my issue, and yeah the buff sounds loke a good idea, loving this mod, great for keeping base clean and organized

I love the idea behind this mod, but I too have lost a number of dinos. I've been playing singleplayer lately, so I'm not sure how it could be a desync (but I'm no expert, so maybe it's possible?) It would work for a while and then suddenly, one day I start up the game and it just eats the dino when I try to spawn it. I'd tried it with modded and vanilla, but none of the items spawn in a dino (they all stopped working at the same time I think). I then stored another dino to test and was able to bring it back out. Just the old ones were all destroyed.

This was a while ago though, before the structure update. Not sure if this has fixed it, but I saw a comment that makes me think not. Also, you could make the dino drop all it's items like the dino transfer via obelisk (would probably make spawning it back in less complicated) and have a slight load timer (like 1 min or so) which may help if it's a loading in problem? Just some ideas... I favourited this mod though, because I'm really hoping the issues get ironed out at some point. Awesome idea and good luck!
