Bugs & Feedback Discussion
Please reply to this thread with any issues or bugs you discover while playing Secrets of a Fallen Empire. Please try to indicate how to replicate the bug so that it is easier for us to fix.

We will keep a list of known and fixed bugs here for your convenience.

Known Issues
  • The AI is very bad at FCU Land mode. We have tried to fix this for many years but due to a lack of proper LUA documentation it is very difficult to tell the AI how to properly build a base.
  • The AI does not build the Research Station in Space mode. There are a couple of custom maps we have where the Research Station is provided for you. The AI will upgrade the tech level of a pre-built Research Station.
  • Wayland mission in the Rebellion campaign has a perception error. We are currently unable to fix this bug. The error can be ignored and the campaign will continue normally.
  • Corruption missions on worlds owned by the Hutt Cartel and the Pirate factions will break the game. This is due to bad (or non-existing) references in corruption mission LUA scripts. These LUA scripts are compiled, unlike any of the other LUA scripts, and therefore unable to be edited. We will keep an eye on this issue but it is unlikely to be fixed.
  • Land mode victory conditions sometimes end the game prematurely or never, depending on certain factors. Issues seem to revolve around neutral (when captured) land structures.
  • If you started a Galactic Conquest as the Black Sun Pirates during the April Fools update, your game save is now corrupted as a result of us disabling the Black Sun Pirates as a playable faction. You can re-enable the Black Sun Pirates in factions.xml if you would like to continue playing as them, but future updates will not support them and you will be incompatible on multiplayer games.

full game crashed when hutt cartel tried to kill Pellion over kuat and the computer had to close the game in a quote "unusal way"

Have you tried to do this more than once? And was this in Galactic Conquest? Thanks for your feedback, we are looking into this right now.

the kill Pellion bug is not a really new one as its the same as the old empire on in that if all the empire heros are at kuat and the planet is the last one in the game it seems to force the game to make the heros unkillible and even after 5+ yrs of trying i cant find the reason for this only way i have avoided it was to force them off that planet or if i have no other option use auto resolve just make sure u have more ships than they do at that point as in auto resolve battle the emporer has a crazy habit of having way too much fleet bonus to him and thus makes it really dam hard to completely finsh off the empire on another not some added factions killing heros causes crashes due to the fact of a error in the hero clash files could be as simple as a letter or number where it should not be wont crash the game unless it trys to read that file during battle

Good to know, I've never heard of this bug. We'll see if anything can be done to fix it.

lol found it a few time randomly in normal game and other modded ones but its really random and only happens if the game cant detect a few thing that should of happened before the planet in question was taken by the rebels or any other faction first came across it in 2005 on the old EAW game seemed to get worse in the exp as mods came out but its always been there

Not sure if it is a bug, but the MC80a model shows no hard points except for the engines and hanger.

This is not a bug; rather a unique feature of the ship. The MC80a's weapon hardpoints cannot be targeted which gives it a bit of an advantage over other capital ships. It is superior in fighting damaged capital ships, but cannot hold its own against fresh capital ships with all of their hardpoints intact.

When playing as the Zann Consortium in GC I send a defiler to a planet and start a kidnapping or a intimidation to corrupt the planet and when the battle starts my screen goes black and there is no sound. This doesnt always happen just at random. Otherwise its a great mod.

Could you give me a bit more info like specific planet(s) and controlling faction? These bugs can be diificult to pin down so any more info would go a long way.

I've had the same bug

The first time it happend was on Cardia and the empire controlled it but I tried it again and the Hutt's controlled it and still didn't work. Nal Hutta same thing with the Pirates controlling it and when the rebels controlled it, I did manage to get it to work after three trys but never had it work on Cardia. The last planet it happend on was Alzoc 3 and the pirates also controlled it. If it happens on another planet I will put the name here. Hope this helps.

I'm testing a few of the corruption missions, so far I've fixed a black screen bug on Bothawui. It looks like I'm going to need to update the maps for the hutt cartel and pirate factions. Hopefully that will fix most of the issues as any LUA script based problems I don't have access to the source files.

Nal Hutta (Hutts) and Carida (Rebel) are working for me. Will try to test against other factions when I have more time.

Im not sure if its a bug or not but the other factions seem to sabotage the player in large amounts at a time. just wanted to bring that to your attention. It makes it rather hard to earn money if they destroy my mine right after i build it lol. if its just an error on my part please tell me.

The Consortium AI in Galactic Conquest is ruthless. We have toned it down many times but it still seems to be very strong. In our tests, it was very persistent at corrupting, sabotaging and attacking the user while the other two faction AI were turtling. We also noticed that it would send massive fleets of 50+ capital ships and a couple SSDs, but it would never send them in. It would play with the ships that warp in initially and then retreat once they have all been destroyed.

This mod's biggest issue is bad AI, and up until now we have had very little understanding of how the AI works. However, I believe we are starting to figure it out after fixing several GC and Campaign related bugs... and I think we may have a solution to fix the AI in FCU land mode (build your own base). Depending on how our initial tests go with that, we may have more information coming shortly.
