Ideas for Religious Icons or Names?
I'm flexible about changing around icon art or naming if there are ideas that come up that seem popular. I'm not going to add new religions to this mod, but I'm OK changing what's already here.

I picked the icons I did because they looked reasonably good on the background color of their founder(s). I picked the names I did because they flow with the 1-word naming convention. They also aren't easily confused with any civ icons. Keep these in mind.

If you have a suggestion, post it here. If you have something to say about somebody's suggestion, then give your kind opinion.

A bit on the religions as I added them:

Akkadianism: (Babylon, Assyria), means "religion of the Akkadian peoples", which encompasses the Babylonians and Assyrians primarily. Their icon is of Ishtar Gate, in kind of the same way Shinto uses its distinctive arch, a physical structure rather than a conceptual symbol. Also I really wanted a dark blue icon in the mix.

Andeanism: (Inca), means "religion of the Andean peoples", encompassing lots of different Andean tribes, but the Inca especially. I found this term used a few times in the book 1491, about Pre-Columbian America. I'm not crazy about their icon. It's a conceptual Incan temple, with terraces and adornments resembling the sun.

Druidism: (Celts), meaning "religion of the druids". This is a pretty established name. Their icon is a good old Celtic knot. I tossed some leaves around it to add some color and highlight the natural aspect of this religion. I picked a different knot design than the one used for the Celtic civ overall.

Germanicism: (Denmark), meaning "religion of the Germanic peoples". I was surprised to learn that continental German tribes believed in this faith too, not just the Norse. The name is one I constructed, following the structure of Hellenism or Punicism. Their icon is the Valknut, a mysterious symbol used especially by the Norse on depictions of war and gods.

Hellenism: (Greece, Rome), "religion of the Greeks", a long established name, though it is often expanded to Greek culture as a whole. A Greek temple seemed the clear way to go with this one.

Intiism: (Inca), "religion of Inti". I, like a few users of this mod, got tired of "Andeanism". Didn't feel right. Changed to "Intiism" based on a user comment, following the form of "Tengriism", only here using the form for the Incan sun god. I'm still not crazy about their icon (a conceptual Incan temple, with terraces and adornments resembling the sun) but I've yet to come up with anything better.

Kanoh'hon'io: (Iroquois), this phrase is of one of the Iroquois languages, presumably for their belief system, but I haven't been able to find a translation. Feels right in game though. The icon is a Mohawk shaman's dyed hair and feather headband, from a reference photo I liked.

Kiniakua: (Polynesia), Hawaiian for "the multitude of gods and spirits". I went with a Hawaiian phrase since Polynesia's leader is Kamehameha. The icon is what the West likes to call a "Tiki mask". Many Polynesian cultures made figures like these representing gods or spirits. I also needed an icon with a wood tone.

Memphitism: (Egypt), a phrase I constructed meaning "religion of Memphis", condensed from an actual phrase, Memphitic mythology. Memphis was the capitol of Old Kingdom Egypt, where Menes unified Egyptian religion into one theology. Icon is a golden ankh, though I debated between that and a gold capped pyramid.

Punicism: (Carthage), meaning "religion of the Punic people". I kind of made this one up, but it sounds pretty legit. Icon is Tanit's symbol, which seems like about the only way to go with this one. I gave it a marbled, rocky appearance since it frequently appears on stele.

Teotlism: (Aztec, Maya), meaning "religion of Teotl". I wanted to finally give Tomatekh some space with their own religion mods, since I had directly borrowed their term "Tlateomatiliztli" used for their Mesoamerican religion. Based off of a helpful user comment I received, "Teotlism" comes from the Nahuatl concept Teotl, a cosmic essence flowing through all things. A Mesoamerican step pyramid is the icon, a common element of many cultures regionally. My backup was some sort of calendar wheel or sun wheel as it's often called, but it too closely resembled these civ's icons.

Just to recall for you my second sentence above, "I am not going to add new religions to this mod". This discussion is focused upon the naming and icons of religions ALREADY in this mod.

Should I ever make a "strange religions" mod however, your suggestion has been noted.

Instead of Andeanism, I would recomend you use Inti. It is the name of the sun god of the Inca. I've seen it used in mods for Europa Universalis 3, as a common religion for the region.

and I've seen the Aztec/Maya relgion be called Teotl. Not sure why but it was called that in Crusader Kings 2: Sunset Invasion. Paradox Interactive are known for trying to be as historically acurate as possible

Instead of Germanicism, I strongly recommend using Heathenry or Heathenism. They are well established names, just like Druidism and Druidry.

I would replace Germanicism with Ásatrú, Forn Siðr, or even just Paganism. Germanicism feels wrong when Germany itself doesn't pick that religion.

A gree, Germanicism really does not feel right for Denmark when Germany takes Christianity. If you don't want to give a religion a name with two words, Ásatrú or Odinism would be more appropriate.

Sorry to you (Mr.Calypso) i do relize that you want posted here new ideas for Religions
But again like i said sorry to say this here but screw any other Religions and not to down play ANY Religion but THINK of this in the game civ5 1st-You select just 1 WITHOUT NEEDING any Religion and it works fine=(Called followers) So its only common since <WELL 2 ME> Since any Religion you end up picking REALLY HAS NO MORE MEANING OR WHATEVER than its shape, color and the name.Well you are in luck since you pick what that Religions belives in so therefore it is now a very CUSTOMIZED Religion. So what diffrence does it make.

1st. I have always loved the 1st. Basic 1 now This GREAT-For some names i would think of names used and can be cominly know=Like: Knight Templer,Blood For our GODS/or-We kill for our Gods

I would try out some funny ones (Cuz you are customizing it anyway)=So it's diffrent:-Depends on the icon you are using but SKULL&BONES thats a old cult per say but as a icon you could use it for a civ that wants there reliong to show they are dominte = Killers for ___ or/ FREEDOM Fighters with a axe and axe in a slant on top of each other.. If you want mor give me a shout i can go on 4ever or try 2 find whatever it is you may need that's the least i can do for you!!!
