Warframe

Warframe

Luna heavy blade
To everyone saying "oversized", google nodachi
Skin looks awesome in my view and even though its pretty big, warframes are supposed to be incredibly strong, also we have more massive ones in the game, look at the chroma deluxe skin, or the giant metal accordeon fragor.

A nodachi isn't even remotely close to how big this is.
Not saying it is, just used it to show not all katana are 2-h weapons with the blade lenght of a 1-hander.
Katanas don't have the blade length of a one-hander, katanas are 60-80cm while wakizashi are 30-60cm and tanto are only 15-30cm.

The whole requirement of one handed blades is that they're smaller than a katana, since that's a two-handed weapon that's too big to use with one hand.

The average lenght of a medieval arming sword or a viking sword is about 70-80 cm, you can look up as an example a viking sword reproduction in kult of athena by albion is about 75 cm long and weighs 1.18kg. It's the difference in design and intent that the katana is two handed.
Nodachi in any form doesn't come anywhere near how stupidly large this is

Looking at the second (side on) picture, it looks about the same size as the Galatine, I don't understand why everyone is crying "oversized" when it's about the same size...

Katanas are quite short as far as two-handed swords go. Early modern European sabers are typically around katana size or longer. If you compare katanas to longswords, the longsword is typically 18 - 30cm longer.

@OP, the problem with oversized swords isn't always whether it's physically possible, it's the proportions. Real swords are thin, because they need to cut things. When you make a sword that's fairly thick and has a very broad blade, it starts to make it look cartoonish. If a sword is too long in comparison to its wielder it starts to get very unwieldy. The result of that in games is the weapon clipping through the environment, which doesn't look great. Additionally, the handle needs to grow in length in order to generate the proper power of the sword. When the handle is too small it adds to the cartoonish look.

I'd personally argue that the Galatine is already too long and only looks good because of how thin it is compared to the other large swords. Furthermore, just because there are already bigger swords, does not at all mean that we should continue adding them.
remember that this is a game and so a lot of things are ment to be unrealistic

I don't see anyone complaining that it's unrealistic, I only see people saying that they don't like how it looks.
