<Targeting_Max_Attack_Distance>450.0</Targeting_Max_Attack_Distance>
Perhaps more importantly, the turn_distance is still set to 800, almost three times higher than all other fighters, making X-Wing squadrons some of the hardest fighters to move in the game, where they already suffer against TIE Interceptors and Consortium fighters that have superior speed, agility and firepower. Line is:
<Begin_Turn_Towards_Distance>800.0</Begin_Turn_Towards_Distance>
X-Wings also have a smaller sight radius but this is minor in comparison.
Also signifigant, Rogue Squadron remains unbearably squishy since it has only essentially double health to differentiate it from the largely already terrible vanilla X-Wing, and still suffers from various Armor_Hero_Transport damage bonuses (which all other hero transports offset via massive health increments), as well as a larger unit model (scale 0.9 compared to vanilla 0.7) which in practice makes them much more vulnerable to fire.
Being a useless hero unit in general, that people typically only use to kill the death star in FoC (totally disgracing the units awesome achievements in the old canon) I generally advise this hero unit get a massive buff in basically every mod that keeps it. At least EaW's red squadron X-Wings essentially did double damage with double the range and vision of a normal X-Wing squadron. Vanilla Rogue Squadron is nothing more than a double-hp X-Wing squadron with easier-to-hit models and a largely ineffective Power-to-Weapons ability recolor.
My suggestions would be to buff both of these units considerably.
Another change which, if you disagree with my balance suggestions, you should at lease agree with on principle, is the tragic mispelling of Tarrin Datch's name (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Tarrin_Datch) as "Tarrub". This error is present in both the file and localisation.
"<!-- Rogue Ten: Tarrub Datch -->"
Yes, I'm well aware of the differences, and no, I don't like them aswell.
But as a patch, it's my duty to respect the author's work as they intended it. I've been intending on liberalizing my patching duty in-line with Arthmoor's "Unofficial Skyrim" patches instead of the Morrowind "Patch For Purists" methodology, these type of changes might happen in the future but not right now.
On the off note, I totally agree. Rouge Squadron is nuts in its current form and the X-wings are crazy bad, but if it's how it was intended as of release and the official patches, it stays for now.
Well, Jesus-Tap-Dancing-Christ. I'd actually forgotten that the Rouge Squadron members were all real characters, I didn't even realize Tarrin's name was mispelled! It'll go into v1.5, along with many other changes which will completely flop the game on it's head (if you view the GitHub).
Thanks, "Fairly Won Away!"
