Burning Bridges
Hello chummers,

first of all im very sorry for all the typos. English isnt my mother tongue. There are a lot of annoying typos and awkward fomulations that will get fixed hopefully sooner than later...

Second: This is not the full story. As of right now the story stops at roughly 60%. Im also sorry but in the next 2 weeks i will have practially no time to work on this. Which is sad because it is/was fun and a great learning experience. But i made the descision to publish it because i put a lot of work into it and i like to share it before it gets lost. It will need a lot of tweaking and i would really enjoy lots of constructive criticism.

Third: I have never done anything of this scale before. Please keep this in mind. I am the author of the Cutting Edge mod, And maybe you like to hear that this mod is implemented in this one but with a very different aproach. I have learned a lot in the last weeks since i started to work on Burning Bridges. You will see the scenes will improve progressively as i gained experience with the editor. I played a lot around and some of the thing maybe strike you as odd. but thats just me playing. Anyway i tried to keep the RP feeling alive as much as possible. I hope you give it a chance and hopefully you will like it. Enjoy.

For any other mod author:I have also figured out that as long as you dont touch your discription, title or edit anything on this page it should let you republish without any hassel. Just be sure that you have it right the way you want it when you publish.

I have already done some fixing: Fixed the drug dealer, the not working attribute checks and some typos.

Some things i should mention are: You need a fairly high character for the combat mission. Around 200 karma should do.

Also there are shortcuts in the game. But you might miss a lot.

I have a couple of little bits of criticism:
No karma was awarded for completing the market fight. [FIXED, added 5 karma after the fight]
One of the patrons in the bar uses the same portrait as Ms Johnson. [FIXED]
There's nowhere to buy weapons/programs/whatever before the first fight.

[Thats something i havn't thought about. I expected that runner would equip themselfs before they start my campaign because thats how i do it too.
But as i think about it, IIRC as of right know decker cant save their programs? I need feedback on this one, because if its nessesary i will add a merchant. Otherwise you have to get your equip together before you start the campaign.]

Thee jack-in point in the market showed up before the homeless dwarf told me where it was. [FIXED, for whatever reason there was a prerequisite missing.]

----------
- Disabled the "create new character" feature because this campaign needs an older runner.

Hi tucker

I am still quite at the beginning of your UGC. Great work so far ;)
What i didn't like was the beginning. Instead of being told i disdain this and i thiunk this or that
i would rather prefer you set the mood or describe to me why i should or could disdain a certain fixer. I thought as good as your storytelling is, it's often quite blunt.
And please don't get me wrong, i like the setting and the story so far, i just don't like the way you transport it in certain situations.
If your storytelling improves as quick as your mapmaking skills, we can all be exited ;)

Cheers

Thanks i always appreciate feedback. And you are right, this is a very lineare storyline. That is first of all because my focus was on learning the editor. And second, my english isnt so good that i can freely write what i want. I need to put a bit of work into it to make it sound at least a bit natural. Thats why i picked a mission i own as a PnP book and took the backbone of it to outline my own story. But yeah i will keep this in mind and try to improve it when enough spare time to go back to makeing more content.

You're right about starting equipment, so maybe you could give some free low-level programs/medkits/drone repair kits, as those are the things that an imported character might really miss if they don't have them. Or give them a choice in a dialogue of which free equipment they want.

One other thing I thought of, is there a summoning point for shaman in the market? Or leylines? Maybe there are and I missed them, but on a map with so many fights my shaman especially was hurting.
Rumhead  [developer] 11 Aug, 2013 @ 5:03am
Yeah ok i can do that. I will add a function to the van to give you medkits etc for free. At least the basic stuff.

I never played a shaman so i totally didnt know about that mechanic. I will look into it and try to add this things as soon as i understand how to make them/how they work. I simply didnt know about that. Thats exactly the feedback i need.

The problem with using a different UGC for your equip is, that only the stuff you carry with you will be imported. As programs/ESPs end up in the stash, a decker won't be of much use.. I've played a Rigger/Decker combo through DMS who ended up with a drone, a deck without programs and a free slot where that useless bug spraygun had been ^^ - and no money whatsoever to buy a gun or programs..
So, would be nice to get a couple Nuyen up front and a place to spend them..

As I used my well equipped Streetsam for testing Your mod, I didn't have any equipment problems ^^
Love the story so far.. take Your time and don't let anybody hurry you to finish it before it's done
:)

Ive release a UGC named Cutting Edge were you can equip yourself with no problems. You get everything you need there. Its pretty much the same club you enter in the second scene. I use that to equip all my runners when i start playing other UGCs. Works very well.

The only problem is that you cant save the decker programs/esps. So i fixed that in my campaign and added it to the van or the situations you need them.

And thanks for the feedback, great you like it. Im slowly but steadily working on it atm. I think 2-3 weeks and i will release the full campain. But for whatever reasons of right now people downvote my campain so its already pretty far down. Dont know why tho but people who like it dont seem to vote on it. So keep your eyes open for it :)

Don't bother about votes that much.. Maybe other authors got a greater fanbase and their fans vote their UGC up while downvoting all other UGC.. Just look at the comments given, 'cause those "loyal downvoters" usually won't bother to give you a verbal opinion about why they downvoted, alas the people who like your mod will offer their opinion openly ;)

Yeah you are right. And i dont bother much with random downvotes when there is no feedback. Its just the fact that people seem to enjoy my UGC but still dont upvote and so the downvoters have more impact. But well its just how it is. I will finish this UGC anyway.

This is very prommising work and it was very very fun to play! I love the deep stroy behind it and the twists and turns. Very good. Would love to see this finisched and maybe with some sidequest who would interfere in the main story ?
Thanks again for the nice play :-D

I did this UGC without a huge amount of hassles at karma level 120. Only issue was surviving the 2nd gun battle in the market area. Soon as I got past that (took 4 attempts) the rest was fine.

Got a black screen at area transition after giving away the soykaf. Not sure if that is the end of the mod so far or I've gotten a bug.
