Sid Meier's Civilization V

SMAN's World at War Scenario - The War in Europe (WW2)

If the game crashes on you - either loading the scenario or a saved game....
As the old saying goes, "If first you don't succeed, try, try, try again...."

Not trying to be flippant, but this Scenario is built on a huge, oversized map, and by design spawns a large number of units. Civ V often struggles with this, as it simply wasn't designed to handle such an intense total war-focused game. Once the game (or saved game) is loaded, the mod is usually quite stable.

During testing, I did encounter a larger-than-normal amount of crashes. Even more when I was loading late-game saved games.

The only thing that worked for me was to clear the game cache. To do this:

1. In Windows, press the WINkey-E combination to open the Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer)

2. Navigate to the game's cache folder, usually located some place like this:

C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache

Where 'XXXX' is the account the game was installed under

3. Delete everything in the folder

4. Restart Civ V, and try to start the scenario/reload saved game again.

I've sometimes had to try this 2-3 times, but usually it will work the first time or two. But, I never "lost" a saved game. I could eventually get it to load.

Sorry about the extra work. Am looking for ways to streamline the mod and limit things like these, but there's only so much you can do when trying to provide a rather Epic gaming experience.

Thanks!
