Examining Log Files
If clearing game cache and attempting to play the mod alone doesn't solve your crashing problems, it's time to examine your log files. It's not too hard to do this, if you have a little computer knowledge, and can often point out exactly what is causing the problems.

First, you need to enable logging on your computer for Civ5. Specific steps to do this can be found in Whoward69's excellent post here:

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/how-to-enable-logging.487482/

Once you have enabled logging, restart Civ5, then select this mod (alone), then attempt to start the game normally. Play for as long as it lets you, but when it crashes, it's time to copy your log files to the mod's Collaboration Space.

Your log files are kept in a specific folder, usually some place like this:

C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Logs

Where 'XXXX' is the user account you installed Civ5 under.

You're looking for 3 specific files: Database.log, Lua.log, and xml.log

The mod's Collaboration Space is located at:

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/smans-the-world-at-war-scenario-the-war-in-europe-ww2.641927/

You may need to create an account on Civfanatics to post the logs. It only takes a couple of minutes and doesn't cost anything.

Create a new post in the Collaboration Space, briefly describe your problem, and the circumstances around it. For example, telling me the game crashed is an accurate description of the problem, but not always helpful. What game turn did it crash? During Civ selection? What Civ were you playing? Did it crash during your turn, or during the AI's turn? Did you notice which AI civ was the active player when it crashed? If during your turn, what were you doing when it crashed?

Answering even a couple of those questions greatly helps in reviewing the log files and hopefully isolating the true cause of the crash.

Once you've finished describing the problem, post the log files using the "Upload a File" - then select the log files you want to upload. Once this completes, press the "Post Reply" button to finish the upload.

I generally review Civfanatics daily, so hopefully I can review your log files fairly quickly.

One note: Civfanatics will not allow you to upload files with a .log extension. You'll need to rename the files using a .txt extension, or upload them using a .ZIP or .RAR archive.
