FAQ
Q: Why do I need to install Antumbra?
A: This is a requirement with the Shadowrun game engine. Basically, in order for me to pull any information from the earlier game, I need to make Antumbra a dependency, and it won’t play Eclipse without Antumbra installed.

Q: Should I play Antumbra first?
A: It’s up to you. You’ll get to know a bit more of some characters’ back-stories, and make some changes in the plot of this game, but Eclipse was designed to also allow new players to jump in and start their stories here. (That said, Antumbra is a pretty short game, so if you have some time you might want to check it out.)

Q: I played Antumbra so long ago that I forget which saved game my character is in, help!
A: The final save in Antumbra is labeled “Everett”, so look for that in your list of saved games. Your character should have roughly 59 karma, but might only have 54 “spent karma” depending on whether you upgraded with the final karma reward. (If you were one of the first 500 or so subscribers to Antumbra, you might be missing the final 5 Karma reward. In that case, you can Rewind to the previous save point and enjoy an upgraded final stage along with your extra karma.)

Q: What archetype should I play as?
A: Most of my testing has been with Samurai, Mage, and Shaman, so those are safest. If you play as another archetype, I’d love to hear how your experience went. Unlike in Antumbra, archetypes like Rigger and Decker are now viable, but I strongly advise against playing a pure support role like a straight Decker.

Q: Can you offer any general gameplay tips?
A: Definitely hire another runner - you can try to solo it if you want, but it’s very hard and not recommended for a first play-through. Take your time to explore inside the Eclipse club between missions and talk to people; you'll occasionally find a side-quest or other assistance, which might not pay off until later. Keep an eye open for medkits and other resources in combat maps.

Q: Why is the nightclub so dark?
A: This problem seems to happen if you've enabled cheats and are running the game at an accelerated speed (e.g., 250% of normal). Try turning it down to 100-108%, walk around and wait for a bit. If that doesn't help, try the steps for the following question.

Q: Ugh, it's way too slow and choppy inside the nightclub! What can I do?
A: Usually it will speed up after a few seconds, but if you have a slow computer, it might not be able to handle all of the characters and atmospheric effects in the club. I've added a debug mode option that will hopefully help with this. Start a new game or rewind to the first scene (Embarcadero). Walk to the terminal near the bottom-left of the map. It won't initially appear interactable, but when you get close it will become usable. Click on it, then choose the option to simplify scenes.
When you go to the nightclub next, it will initially be even slower than before, since it's going through and removing a bunch of stuff from the map. Once that's done, though, it should be faster than before.
Right now this option only affects the club, but if you notice slowdowns on other maps, let me know and I'll see if I can extend it elsewhere as well.
