With basic first aid kit = level 2 survival tent with +1 heal rate,
standard kit = level 3 with +2 heal rate,
advance kit = level 4 with with +3 heal rate.
So fully upgraded survival tent will give x10 heal rate (which is even better than normal bed). Is that balanced? Will people want to have something like that given that they will not get the materials back when they dismantle the tents?
Or keep the existing tents as it is but make a new medical tent that starts up with x4 but upgradable to x10 that people can build in their own town? Balancing could still be an issue.
It's just my opinion, but I think the best thing is to do... like you love it! ^^
Good catch Woullak! I will change the heal rate in the next update to make it worthwhile.
About the medical tent, making it as an upgradable option for large tent makes sense. That means if you already have large tent, you can upgrade it to make it better. If not, you could build it from scratch if you want to have it in your base to massive heal your army for example.
Do you think current size of 5 per large medical tent is enough or do you think I should add another even bigger size (let's say for 10 person?) for people who want to do massive heal after a large battle? Is it necessary or is it too much?
(sorry for my English, I use two software to write, one to correct and one to translate and the two do not work well together ^^)
Don't worry about your English. It's fine. I wish I could speak French. It sounds so cool. :D
Thank you for your patience ;)
One thing I'd really love to see is even larger military camp style tents for 10-man and 20-man.
Well done man, keep up the amazing work!
I want it to be convenient but not making everything too easy. I'm already having second thought about whether current tent kit system is balanced or not especially when you can craft the kit anywhere in the world map without cost (other than time).
If anyone got any ideas on how to fine tune it I'm all ears :D
Initially the tents require sleeping bags to build and the large tents require sleeping bags and building material. Losing sleeping bag when dismantling tents is a huge problem because they're expensive and kinda hard to get in large quantity so I replaced it with tent kits.
The tent kits are put together from scraps found around the area. That's why it cost nothing but it takes time to put together. I think it's lore friendly that you will not get all the materials back when you dismantle the tents because it's made of reclaimed junk of questionable quality.
Currently as long as you have at least 1 building material with you, you can put together a kit maker and build as many tents as you want as long as you're willing to spend time to scavenge for scraps to put together the tent kits. The kits are small, lightweight and they stacks so it's not a burden if you make extra to carry with you. Or maybe I should make the kits large, heavy and cumbersome to carry to force people to always put together new one on the spot? ;p
I thought about making separate kits for different size tents but it's unnecessary. The tents are all made of the same material (some tarp and sticks), only the bigger ones requires more of everything. Having separate kits for different size tents will just make things bloated and bothersome to manage especially if I make more variant in the future.
Efficiency is what determine the heal rate. Even tho the large tent says it gives 2000% efficiency, the actual value is 2000% divided by 5 so it's actually just 400% (or x4) which is the same as vanilla camp bed. For medium tent it's 1200% divided by 3 so it's also 400%. You found out about this later in the video but I'll just write this down for future reference.
I thought about adding the tent kits to vendors. But if I do that, I'll have to assign proper value to it. I really don't want to assign values to some reclaimed tarp (it looks like tarp but is it?) and sticks foraged from the ground. That's why it's so cheap and not sold anywhere because it's a DIY kit you put together from random junk you found in the wasteland. It doesn't cost anything other than time and effort to make and it's worthless to anyone else because they have no use for it.
I like your idea of large mobile infantry tents for 10-15 person and the materials to build it will be heavy and cumbersome to lug around. It'll need a new custom building material, perhaps make the structure/material researchable at higher tech level? Technically I can make it work just like current survival tents but it will be janky as heck. You've seen inside the tent and you know what's going on. Can you imagine a tent about twice the size of the large survival tent and when you have it fully occupied, you have 10-15 names on top of each other in the middle? There's no other way to make it work as conveniently as it is right now without being as janky. I don't mind jank but I don't know how well other people will respond to it. LOL
I'm currently working on adding medical tents. It's going to give x8 heal rate which is the same as a vanilla bed and upgradable from medium and large survival tents. Right now it requires medical supplies which is common trade item available everywhere in the vanilla game. It's a bit different from survival tents because it's meant to be a semi-permanent structure so if you dismantle it, you'll have to go out and buy more medical supplies. I'm currently testing this idea to see if it's something workable.
p/s: Told you not to peek. It's horrifying isn't it? What has been seen cannot be unseen. Maybe I'll add something extra for those who are brave enough to peek in future update. ;)
