[07/17/2020] The "Update" update ! (v1.0.1)

Additions

- Now you can merge the updates ! You have to follow the instructions in the console. You just have to give the path of the workshop file path in the settings menu.
- Added a button that opens an URL link right to the RavenfieldToolsPack download page.

Fixes

- [Linux] You can now use the export buttons.
- WeaponConstructor will no longer display a blank inspector.

[24/07/2020]The "Localisation" update ! (v1.0.2)

Translators, get your pencil ! You can now translate BetterEditor in 41 languages !


Additions

- Added instructions for the Localisation system ! You will find this in "BetterEditor/Translation Instructions". Every translators can begin to translate now. Some ressources will be added and may subject to change.
- Added a "Settings" button
- Added a hotkeys for "Refresh Localisation Files" button (Left Shift + R).

Tweaks

- Weapon configuration UI has been revamped.
- Every constructor (vehicles, weapons, projectiles ) can now be translated.
- The localisation system is now supporting 41 languages (but they are not translated yet), here's the list:

Known bugs

- Unity will sometimes display an error message in the console when there is a new target added in ScriptedBehaviour.
- When downloading an update, an error message will appear. It will stop poping after the download is complete.

HOTFIX - The default settings file has been removed from the package, so your settings will not be overwritten.

For new users, this file will be auto-generated after you installed the BetterEditor package.

I received critical Bug Reports, so there is an HOTFIX today !

Fixes

- The editor scripts for FloatingRigidBody and DirectionnalDragForce can now apply the modifications.
- The editor scripts for Weapon can now display the uiSprite, arms, allowArmMeshReplacement, parentWeapon, useParentWeaponSightModes and isLocked properties in the inspector.

Additions

- Added "Open Changelogs Page" button in the Unity Toolbar.

Major Update Incoming ! (v.1.1.0)

Hi everyone ! I'm happy to inform you that I'm working on a major update for BetterEditor !

It should be ready for the end of the next week. For now, it includes a basic map generator and a vehicle generator ! Click here to have a first glimpse of these features. It should speed up your mod production's time even more !

There will be more to come, stay tuned ! (^u°)

Major Update delayed to tomorrow!

Hey everyone ! I didn't had the time to fix all the bugs, so I'll release the major update tomorrow.

This update will bring a GUI for the scene editor and will bring a better experience than the in-game editor ! It will allow you to apply heightmaps more easily, without having to convert it to a raw texture.

I'll let you explore the rest tomorrow ;)

[09/08/2020] The "Map Creator" Major Update ! (v1.1.0)

The first major update for BetterEditor is here, and you can make better and optimized maps !

Additions

- Added a Map Creator Window ! You can create a map without having to put manually every necessary map elements, very fast and from an heightmap ! Some features are locked, but they will be implemented in the future.
- Added a Vehicle Creator Window.
- Added an overlay for the scene editor ! You can put map elements directly from the editor. You can switch it off or on from the settings or from the Unity toolbar. Supports ProBuilder !
- Added a link to terrain.party[terrain.party] to get an heightmap from the world.
- Added icons for the scene editor's overlay.

Fixes

- Fixed the update listener.

Known bugs

- Unity will sometimes display an error message in the console when there is a new target added in ScriptedBehaviour.
- When downloading an update, an error message will appear. It will stop poping after the download is complete.

[16/08/2020] Hotfix ! (v1.1.1)

I'm now working on the procedural terrain generator but because it's very long to make, so here's some nice fixes ! Ravenscript scanner got considerable optimizations and more !

Additions

- Added "Advanced" terrain paint option in the Map Creator. It allows you to add or remove layers and to configure layer settings.
- Added "Open Weapons Lab Scene" in the "Weapon Creation Tools", in the Unity toolbar.

Tweaks

- Revamped the Terrain Paint interface, it now displays 3 lists (Materials, Textures and Details). You can now add your own grass and tree (The trees will not be automatically generated on the terrain but will be set in the map's terrain.)

Fixes

- Fixed an issue where the property field Arms wasn't displayed on melee weapons inspectors and other non-generic weapon inspectors.
- Fixed a known bug ! The Ravenscript scanner will no longer generate exceptions in the console ! It has now considerable performances boost too !

Known bugs

- When downloading an update, an error message will appear. It will stop poping after the download is complete.

Also it doesn't include the default BetterEditor settings to prevent overwriting your settings. ^^"

[09/09/2020] Hey everyone ! It's been almost 1 month of no updates, sorry for the wait ! I did alot of things for my career and I almost finished the next update, which is...

The Workflow Update

It will include a Todo Task Manager ! You will be able to focus on your most important tasks and being able to assign any assets to any lists ! You will have no excuses to forgot something ;)

This update will be available in 2 days, the 11th September.

[11/09/2020] As promised, here's the new update !

The "Workflow Update" ! (v1.1.2)

Additions

- Added the Todo Manager ! Create a Task Context by right clicking to create lists of tasks.
- Added a link to my official website.

Tweaks
- Added Testers in the credits.
- Shows the curent version in the credits.
- It will shows the curent version when doing a manual update and it was not necessary.

Known Bugs

- When downloading an update, an error message will appear. It will stop poping after the download is complete.
- When installing BetterEditor for the first time it may not find the Settings file. If so, create a new Settings file by right clicking, while in BetterEditor folder, and click on "Create/BetterEditor/For Backups Only !/Settings". This will be fixed firstly in the next hotfix.

Development Interruption

I planned to interrupt the development of BetterEditor for my professional projects after I fix the new critical bug. But I still maintain the support of this extension, if you have encountered uncomfortable bugs you can still report it in the "Bug Reports" thread.

Special Message From Me

"After 3 years of modding, I made BetterEditor because I needed it. Making planes were painful to make. It was buggy quite often (like the good old missiles that doesn't lock up <( °w°<) ), missing materials (not very often, but very inconvenient for mac users) and because of that I have to remake 26 mods from scratch to be sure to eliminate the bugs once and for all. During its development, I also considered BetterEditor also a part of myself, because it does exactly what I did in the past. It builds planes, it sets up planes and it export planes like as I did before. And now, BetterEditor makes Ravenfield modding very complete and user friendly. You have proved that BetterEditor is fully able to do everything it promises now, and thank you very much for that \(^w^)/ !

I'm very sure, for the future, BetterEditor will be essential for Ravenfield modding. It creates assets with ease and can rebuild prefabs from scratch. If SteelRaven7 would like to implement it in RavenfieldToolsPack, I would 100% agree. If I had to quit modding, I always be there as long as BetterEditor is in the Workshop."

The Future Of BetterEditor

I have more ideas for BetterEditor, that could be potentially subject of a major update. It would take times like 1 months but with all the projects I have, it will be completed even for the next year.


That was the 10th update ! Thanks everyone for supporting this mod ! BetterEditor has never been this big before !

- Fixed the installation failure for new users. The package now includes the Settings file I'm very sorry for that inconvenience !

Tweaks

- The "Paste" button will now create a new instance of the Todo Task or Todo List.
- The Task List completion percentage will now not count Complementary tasks.
- Fixed the note foldout.
- The colors in the Todo Manager are now less agressive, to improve readability.
- Minor display fixes for the Todo Manager

Ravenfield is migrating to Unity 2020 !

Today, SteelRaven decided to port the entire game to Unity 2020, that means I'm also migrating to this version of Unity for all of my mods (future and every mods present on my Workshop).

BetterEditor will also be ported to Unity 2020 but the support for Unity 5 may come to an halt. I'm checking if I can compile BetterEditor from Unity 2020 and export it to Unity 5, there will be a news for that.

Finally I'm working on a solution to compile and export mods to the old version of the engine. I'm still working on the mods but Ravenfield is changing so much I can't mod it right now.

Also I'm working on commercial Unity tools ! Some of them will feature in the future update of BetterEditor ;) You can also check my official website (louis8257.com) to check my products !
