Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting:

If you get an access violation on start up:

A - Make sure the normal game works so that you know it’s not something like a video driver or a bad installation causing the problem.

B - Make sure you’re REALLY following these instructions to launch the game:

after starting the game you have to click:
1- 'mods' button
2- 'Star Trek Continuum: -2310' in the 'available mods' list (ONLY this Star Trek mod works!)
3- 'select' button
4- 'GOLIATH - Make Battlecruisers Great Again' in the 'available mods' list
5- 'select' button
6- 'Star Trek vs. Homeworld' in the 'available mods' list
7- 'select' button
8- 'launch' button

C – turn the video settings all the way down

D – Uninstall Homeworld, delete the folder '\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\DataWorkshopMODs’, then reinstall the game
If that doesn’t do it, then I don’t think I can help you any further. Buy a new computer? =D

If you get an access violation during the game or if the textures and buttons look like a bunch of red checkers, turn the video setting 'texture size limit' ALL THE WAY down. Then if it works you can try incrementally turning it back up. Playing with fewer race types in the game should work too. (Make sure at least one is Hiigaran or the AI might not work)

doesn't work on mac on an ssd, will try with commands, since the launcher is unreliable,
Captain_Freedom  [developer] 22 Sep, 2020 @ 7:07am
Oh yeah - it's only tested with a windows computer and a steam version of HW. I have no idea how to fix problems with macs or different sales platforms. If you figure it out, please post the solution here for other people in your situation. Thanks!

I wouldn't be suprised if it was the launcher not playing nice with being on another drive tbh, I often get crashes where the game just can't load things fast enough, and I get a hang or a crash, because of the slow speed of usb, I also couldn't get some things, like the sby(almost) mod working, and all I had to do was use launch options, so it might just be the launcher, I really don't know

You're playing on a drive that's connected with a usb? :D I think that might be your problem my friend. Just try to install it like normal.

For me that does work fine - for *single* mods...

Your steps 5) and 7) only produce beeps, without changing the list of selected mods, though. :winter2019sadyul:
( and I *did* take care to choose the 2310-mod when multiselecting... )

But then that is so, no matter *which* mods I try to multiselect... maybe my install is broken in some way ? :ttt_questionmark:

Though in that case it's curious that I have no problem playing single mods - recently tried ST 2380, HW PnF, and Cataclysm Remastered without too many errors ( C-R's AI still is unfinished and thus gave some problems, but the other two worked flawlessly ) .

Hi ShadowDragon,

I think you should try reinstalling everything onto an internal disk. Otherwise, I have no idea what the problem could be.

I only tested it with a windows computer on Steam, so if you have a mac or bought the game somewhere else that might be it as well. But same thing, I don't know how to help you with that.

Good luck!

OK, thanks. :)

As I said, the issue on my side is specifically with the launcher, not your mod.

I had hoped there was a trick to it that I missed ( and that you might know ) , but now it indeed seems that my install of HWRM is the problem :winter2019sadbulb: - weirdly so, but well... :winter2019neutralbulb:

Good luck with your mod. :winter2019happysnowman:

Hm... which commandline-switches for HWRM are there? I only found guides with some for the Classic-variants of HW 1 and 2 . :/

Maybe some commandline-switch might help with my problem??

Hi ShadowDragon, good news! I think I have a work around for you. Check out this thread:

https://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/how-to-add-big-file-in-the-command-line/4262910/8

You'll need to find the path to the .big files of the mods on your computer, but I just tried it out and it works for me.

Good luck!

Thanks. :winter2019happybulb:

Unfortunately, some more general problems are in the way right now :winter2019sadyul:, but I'll give it a try at some point. :winter2019happyyul:

In the game settings when choosing a race, only by Random

I think you must have installed the mods in the wrong order. This mod doesn't have a random setting because it might use too much memory if you start a game with all of the races in it. Follow the installation steps in the first post very carefully, and the mod order should look like the instructions-picture in the description.
