Discussion and Suggestions for my GOM Cargo Additions
Feel free to add any suggestions and discuss my GOM Cargo Additions environment mod in here.

Minor addition, a simple GPS NAV system to find cargo terminals:

Old changelog:
1.15b Sid Meier (Arid) Islands
All container terminals on the DLC Sid Meier (Arid) Island spawn custom cargo.
There are new routes for small handheld cargo on the new island, to be transported with smaller steam trains or by delivery vans.

New cargo routes:
All container type cargo will have these Trainyards as additional destination:
  1. Brainz Train Yard
  2. Mauve Trainyard
  3. Serpentine Trainyard

From the above Trainyards there are now new supply routes for smaller carge to all Towns/Farms/Villages on the new Sid Meier Islands:
  1. Expo Village
  2. Enzo Kats Village
  3. Qwop Town
  4. Chaykovsky Town
  5. Personaggio Farm
  6. Chris Ranch
  7. Noah Village
1.13b Hotfix
Added stay active block to each buoy, removed the "stay active" editor property
Looks like this will properly deactivate physics simulations once the player is further away, while still keeping the buoy functional. Unfortunately you have to get near them first to make them work, don't see a way around that currently.
Also fixed the commands, thanks to foucault and T3cn0Teen for pointing it out in the comments!

-Removed due to performance issues- 1.13 Crab Buoys
You can now use radio channels 1+2 to receive X+Y coordinates of the 6 available crab fishing spots.
Sawyer buoy frequencies:
5500, 5501, 5502

Arctic buoy frequencies:
6500,6501,6502

I also updated my GOMGOM GPS NAV to receive GPS coordinates through radio, check it out!

  • Added Crab cages, can be lifted with electrical connector or ropes
  • Added Donkk fishing village, provides empty cages to deliver to 3x crab spots around Sawyer Islands
  • Added 3 crab spots around Sawyer Islands, one SW of spycakes, the other two are randomized
  • Added 3 arctic crab spots, all spread around the arctic, requires a huge winch or submarine to gather those cages!

  • Added Arctic Supply Terminals
    Distribute supplies among arctic outposts.

  • Added Arctic Oil Barrel Logistics
    Transport Oil Barrels from arctic refinery and drilling platform to Tajin Airport, then pick up some more barrels at Tajin Airport and fly them all the way down to Harrison Airbase.

  • Bridge Supplies
    Harrison Airbase will provide supplies for the bridges on sawyer island, to ensure they stay in working order. Drive slow, those ramps can be treacherous.

  • Cargo:
    More pipes
    Concrete walls
    Swimming pools
    Hot tub
    Furniture
    Boats
    Wheelbarrow
    Heavier Oil Barrel

  • Moved all cabledrums and pipes to container terminals
  • Increased amount of possible cargo spawns

Can you add some sliding grippers on the outer edges of the cargo so they'll be liftable by forklifts? Or do I have permission to adjust them on my own before including them in the cargo additions environment?

All the objects are solid and filled with blocks for weight reasons, otherwise they'd be way too light.

I'd like to see more missions between the sawyer ports and surrounding islands. It would also be really cool to see more cargo types.
For example, missions that carry ammo/equipment between the Military base and Harrison/O'Neil Airbase.
I'd also like to see missions to transport supplies to/from Oil Rigs, as Helicopters provide most of the supplies for Remote Rigs Irl.
Another niche idea is the use of helicopters in Christmas Tree Farming. Helicopters are often used in remote areas to Transport Christmas Trees from logging camps to market. For example, felled trees could be collected at a camp at tile MEGA_ISLAND_10_3 then delivered to Holt Town or another Village for collection.
Those are just my thoughts, though. I haven't done a lot of coding since my un-uploaded custom missions got wiped with the 1.0 update, so if those ideas aren't feasible I'll understand

Liking your ideas, ammo/military equipment was planned for the military base, police station and the likes, same goes for the oil rigs which I tried some time ago, couldn't get oil barrels to properly spawn on them, or any other type of cargo. For some time crab cages didn't spawn in properly as well, started to work for some time after the steam DLC came out, then it stopped working again.

As much as I personally would like to add/enhance this environment mod, there's currently no documentation for the lua API (for almost a year now) to make my own cargo system and adding more cargo types with individual locations with the way it's currently working (I just hook into the vanilla container system) is very cumbersome and doesn't allow for much customization, like individual rewards, time limits (think critical medical cargo) etc.

I'm also no longer actively playing the game since there's too many undocumented changes breaking stuff (like the crab fishing spots, pump throughput) and every other update requires to restart a career save due to new blocks or other additions not carrying over to existing savegames for whatever reason.

I appreciate your input and will consider it in case things might change for the better, heh.

Should work straight away, unless some other environment addOn is fiddling with the vanilla cargo system.

My mod just hooks into the default container game mechanic, I just added more locations and cargo types.

Don't know of any specific incompatibilities.

Hey, glad you enjoy it.

Something similar is in the works, though it will be a standalone version to avoid too much clutter, since it's already become a pain to edit the current cargo module, so stay tuned!

Do you mean research points?
Not without a few changes, since I'm just hooking right into the vanilla container system, so I'm currently unable to change delivery payouts, research points or other ways to reward the player, since the vanilla container system doesn't provide this functionality.

Yeah, regarding tickets I've also tried my fair share of bug reports and got shadowbanned with most of my tickets deleted on the feedback tracker, for reporting too many bugs.

Same for all of my comments and tickets created by me, they're hidden, pushed to the bottom of the priority list and invisible to the public, basically being treated similar to the myriad of "my engein dosen't werk" tickets. Note that you can't delete tickets or comments, so there's no way of faking this.
