What map script would you like to see next?
I've still got a few things I want to address in Isolation, but I'm also thinking about doing another map script. Some very astute commenters have already asked about two similar ideas I had already been considering, so I thought I'd put both of those ideas out there and see which the community prefers.

  • Idea 1: Fallout. A map with no wrapping and water on 1 to 3 sides. A large percentage of the terrain is either desert or fallout. Obvious impact zones scatter the map and there are many existing city ruins and roads. Players start scattered around randomly and must first find a decent spot to start their first city.
  • Idea 2: Water Isolation. It's Isolation but with water instead of snow or desert. Island shape is more random than the starting areas in Isolation. Optional tiny islands (not large enough for a major city) scattered about. Also includes epic start, island size, resource abundance and possibly oddities as options.

Water isolation would be fun, but I think Fallout sounds more interesting!

For the Fallout idea, which I really like, you should have the wasteland be specific to one area of the map, maybe the center, to represent the epicenter of a nuclear explosion. Sounds hot.

personally i been looking for what would be considered an expansion of your islolation map script, i've been looking for a script that enables you to select number of civs/continents so each start is equal and on a seperate continet

Admittedly I'd also like to see a modification to said water isolation script that makes each "isolated" spot big enough for at least 2 if not 3 cities. But that's just me.

I've started modifying Isolation to change the wasteland to water, but it's nowhere near ready yet. I too am a big fan of having an island to myself.

The Fallout idea proved to be problematic since the AI never moves from their starting spot.

This map limits the game by ileminating all the navel units some wonders and city improvements can only be built on Coastal cities. I like running on tiny islands and acapeligo. I find the odd island shapes disapointing. I like the way the non waste land islands are shaping up. any way you can make the waste land ocean. or adapt this process to a islands map I really do like the way you gave us conrtol over island size.

I would love to have a map script that makes a honeycomb of mountains. Basically make it like the highland's map script w/a hex grid overlay allowing variable sized honeycombs w/openings on each side. Make the opening size variable too. What would be cool is to combine THIS script with it so that each hex is basically an isolation spawn point. It would be like...all these rooms you have to fight over and eventually conquer. That would be fun.
If possible: Can you make one where the player gets one continent for himself, then the others AI generates randomly. That is something I'm hoping for to find. :)

Mountain valleys

The entire map is nothing but Mountains. sept for the small patch of flat/Hilly land of varying sizes each civ lands on. with one tile canyons snaking around so that each civ has a rout to attack each other. the ground in the canyons should be desert so the other civs won't try and colonise in the canyons. maybe add stone patches here and there for a rockslide esthetic kind of thing idk.

perhaps maybe you should disable the creation of settlers in this mod as well, because the other civs tend to cluster at least 4 cities in their tiny plot of land, while i tend to just have one city.
