HOW TO START RAGE VIRUS GAME

After installing this mutation go the main menu, select MUTATION mode and choose RAGE VIRUS.

HOW TO START THE MUTATION VIA CONSOLE

Type: map "mapname" "ragevirus" in the developer console (in example: map c1m1_hotel ragevirus). To use cheats while playing this mutation, you'll need to type: "sv_cheats 1" beforehand.

WHY REMOVE MELEE WEAPON FROM BOTS

In short, the problems outweight the benefits. Additionally, with limited tools available to make mutation it is not possible for me to improve bots greatly but they should be good enough compared to vanilla bots.

WHY NERF BLUNT MELEE WEAPON

In short, for realism and game balance.

WHY DECREASE SEMI AUTO SNIPER SPAWN

The game will get considerably easier when you get a fast firing one hit kill weapon that can pierce multiple enemies and deal high damage to bosses from afar. They are now considered as rare weapon, giving you more opportunity to try out the less desired bolt action sniper.

SPAWNED SNIPER IN THE SAFEROOM CHANGES BETWEEN MAPS

Unfortunately due to how sniper spawn script works, this can't be fixed without altering each campaign map files.

WEAPON HAVE DIFFERENT STATS COMPARED TO VANILLA GAME

You might have been playing on a modded server or installed additional weapon script inside your addons folder.

WHY NOT REMOVE BOOMER

In short, no Boomer means no Boomer Bile.

WHY NOT REMOVE BOSS SPAWN

It was originally intended. However, removing em would make holdout finale boring as hell and they can still spawn on certain scripted event (as a requirement for survivor to progress) thus proving no point to remove em.

WHY INCREASE BOSS SPAWN

With no (less) special infected, game AI Director will try to give you a challenging game appropriately based on your performance and difficulty level. Adjustments have been made so that they can't spawn too close near wandering zombies. That being said, sometimes the AI Director can still spawn them near wandering zombies and during crescendo gauntlet event thus giving you a more challenging gameplay experience.

ZOMBIE BOSS TOUGHNESS

Tank have less health, less auto shotgun resistance, and less fire resistance. On Expert difficulty it would take around 15 seconds to kill em with auto shotgun and molotov, around 30 seconds without molotov, and around 50 seconds (was 85 seconds) with only molotov. Similarly Witch also have less health, less shotgun resistance, and less fire resistance. It would take around 7 seconds (was 15 seconds) to kill em with fire damage alone and crowning em become a lot easier, however once alerted Witch are now much more dangerous.

ZOMBIE TOUGHNESS

Headshot will always take em down quickly, bodyshot however would take a lot more based on difficulty level. In RAGE VIRUS mutation M16 RIFLE would need 4/5/6/7 shots to take em down compared to 1/2/3/4 shots needed in vanilla game. SHOTGUN can't kill em easily in long range without a headshot, however they can still nearly guarantee one shot kill at close range. Powerful rounds from MAGNUM and SNIPER RIFLE would always kill em in one hit, might also penetrate and kill more of em in one shot, so aim at center mass and line em up to make the most out of your shot.

ZOMBIE MOB SPAWN TOO FREQUENT

You can try lowering game difficulty to reduce their spawn interval. New mob may spawn every 120/105/95/90 seconds based on difficulty level. Additionally, custom campaigns and certain maps may have their own pacing script thus causing a much easier or even harder playthrough with their own mob spawn interval settings.

PERFORMANCE ISSUES

You can try lowering your video settings. Additionally, looking away from burning zombies and uninstalling heavy mods might also help.

GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING

You can try uninstalling this mutation, verify your game integrity, and reinstalling again.
