Changes to Advent Cryo Priest Standalone
Note: almost all changes here require Bitterfrost Protocol in order to function. This update also ships with many changes to Bitterfrost Protocol's changes, so be sure to check that thread as well. Let's talk about the classic Advent Cryo Priest first:

- Cryo Priests now use Bitterfrost Protocol's Cryolator in place of their original ones. What does this mean?
  • They can now (theoretically) Overwatch with their Cryolator. They probably won't do this very often though.
  • Their Cryolators can now run out of ammo and need to be reloaded. They have a 3-shot magazine.
  • Their Cryolators now do damage.
  • Instead of the freeze effect, they now use the bitterfrost effect. While weaker up-front, the effects will linger through more turns.
  • No more fake fire left on the ground!
  • The quality of their Cryolator improves with higher tiers of Cryo Priest, which generally means more damage.
- Cryo Priests now carry a pistol once again. This is the same pistol that was made for LWOTC's Purifiers; it does low damage but high crit damage.

- Cryo Priests now carry a Bitterfrost Grenade in place of their Frost Bomb. M3 versions carry the Bitterfrost Bomb instead. While this means the freeze effect is replaced by bitterfrost, they also have a bigger radius, deal damage and shred armor. However, they will not go after single targets with these, instead waiting for an opportunity to hit 2 or more targets with them.

- Cryo Priests' base HP is reduced by 4 (from InterventoR's values), but they gain this lost HP back due to the Frostweave vest they equip. This vest also makes them immune to fire and frost, and also will freeze any unit that attacks them in melee.

- There is now an M1 Cryo Priest. They can show up as early as Force Level 4.

- Base Cryo Priest Mobility has been buffed by 2 to compensate for the SmallItemWeight from their grenade and vest.

- Cryo Priests now drop their own corpse and have their own autopsy. See the Bitterfrost Protocol Changes Discussion thread for more details on what you can use those for. The Cryo Priest Autopsy requires Alien Biotech research and the Bitterfrost Protocol project to be done first. Cryo Priest Corpses are worth 8 Supplies each. They still share timed loot drops with the Advent Purifier.

An entire new family of enemy: the Advent Cryo Rocketeer! Here's what they're about:
  • Visually, they look just like a Cryo Priest, but carry different weapons and gear.
  • They are equipped with the same rifle that the equivalent tier Advent Rocketeer uses, as well as the Cryo Launcher (Superior Cryo Launcher for the M3), and Bitterfrost Rounds.
  • Their stats are slightly weaker than the Cryo Priest in terms of dodge, will, and mobility, as well as defense and crit chance on higher difficulties.
  • They appear in the same encounter and follower lists as the equivalent tier Cryo Priest does with the same frequency. You'll start encountering the M1 Cryo Rocketeer at Force Level 4.
  • M2 and M3 Cryo Rocketeers gain the Open Fire ability, which gives them 10 extra aim and crit chance with ranged attacks against targets at full health. This will encourage them to spread their shots around more and debuff more of your squad with the chill effect from their Bitterfrost Rounds.
  • They drop their own corpse and have their own autopsy. See the Bitterfrost Protocol Changes Discussion thread for more details on what you can use those for. The Cryo Rocketeer Autopsy requires Alien Biotech research and the Bitterfrost Protocol project to be done first. Cryo Rocketeer Corpses are worth 8 Supplies each. They share timed loot drops with the Advent Trooper.
- Some localizations have changed.

Just in case anbody is wondering if this works with A Better DLC (from where the Cryo Priest got ported to the standalone mod): The old versions of the Priest (tier 2 and 3) drop the new corpse, but the new enemies (t1 Priest and all Rocketeers, tested with the dropunit console command) are completely invisible.
Also, both corpses seem to be missing a picture and only show the basic rainbow 'img:' fallback image.

Will get on fixing the broken images. About compatibility with A Better DLC, I can probably make configs for that.

I've now released updates fixing the missing images, and also provided a couple of bool configs that A Better DLC users can swap around the values for to fix the invisible new Mod Jam enemies.

As of the latest Mod Jam update, you'll no longer need to configure which archetype to use for the new enemies. Mod Jam does that by itself now.

Thanks for making changes on my terrible enemy port for the better, this was my first public non-ini only mod so I hardly understood much of what I was doing at the time.

Thanks for making it! It's like I say in the Credits section, Mod Jam's only possible because of the other mods that I use as foundations.

Well I'm honored that anything of mine was considered for this collection, thanks again.

I'm cool with that - after all, breakthroughs are not a thing in LWOTC, right?

Hi, I just ran into a strange issue. I queued up the Cryo Priest autopsy research project. A few (IRL) days later, the research finished. However, the name of the research in the event queue was blank (so it just says " : 1 day"). The description that pops up after the research finished was also blank. I didn't get any unlocks in the Proving Ground, but I did get a Gene Mod unlock. I reloaded my save and tried switching my research to something else - if I did that I couldn't switch back (the autopsy was no longer in the research list to resume).

I might have similar issues with the ADVENT Sniper and Duelist autopsies. I use [WOTC] Show Tech Rewards, which does show unlocks from modded techs. That mod doesn't report that those autopsies unlock anything, but I'm very certain I saw them unlock stuff in the past.

I didn't have any issues with researching things previously (I have pathfinder gear, bio trooper plating, all sorts of stuff unlocked already). Dunno if you can help me with this or not, but if you have any troubleshooting ideas, I'd appreciate it!

Edit: I reloaded and checked the Proving Ground again. The Frostweave is actually there, even though I haven't finished the autopsy. The corpse cost isn't displayed properly - it just says "1, 15 Supplies, 1 Alloys, 2 Crystals". Same deal with "Bubble Weave"

Edit2: I can build things that I never completed the research for, like Sabot Rounds (Sniper?), Scramble Rounds (Duelist?), Cryo Launcher, Bio Blaster Launcher, Automend Weave, and many more. I tried loading a save file from a few (IRL) months ago, different campaign. Same issue.

I see that it's been resolved. Thanks!

I've been noticing a lot of cryo priests during their turn shoot their pistol randomly out into the general area at nothing in particular. It doesn't seem to be having an effect and instead wastes their turn. No idea where that bug might be coming from.
