Upcoming Version
Here are my plans right now. At this point I consider the Amazon Adventurer content to be more or less complete; there's always more I could add or adjust but at some point I gotta move onto something else and I've decided now is the time.

Next update(s):
  • Refining the Amazon defiance mechanic for nomads.

Long-term:
  • Rework the old "change your faith's view on gender" decisions into something more intensive.
  • New buildings, events, and interactions focused around a society dedicated to Sappho (need to look into how this would work).

Looks like the next update is going to include adoptions, so I don't have to worry about adding the mechanic whole cloth. I'll almost certainly do something with it, and the "monogamous marriage gets a concubine" thing may become something you toggle with a game option.

So any word on the universities additions?

At the moment I'm not working on anything, just maintaining the mod, but when I come back to CK3 it'll be one of the things I have a look at.

If, when you come back to modding you're still interested in adding adoption stuff, there's a mod called Adoption Options that adds doctrines similar to how MM adds doctrines.

I haven't looked much at adoption modding since the feature was added to the base game, but in theory the Adoption Options mod might work with this mod. I have removed most things that cause hard incompatibilities with religious mods (ie I no longer overwrite the core_tenets file). But I can't guarantee anything without looking at the Adoption Options mod itself.

In relation to the upcoming DLC, I think the new legends feature would work really well with Amazons (and I may be able to do something lesbian-related as well with it, something with Sappho maybe), but as always I'm hesitant to commit to too much because it seems likely to be DLC-only content and I don't want to create too much locked behind DLC features.

With that said the "Amazon Alliance" may be moved out of the Matriarchy dynasty legacies in the future and replaced with some other features. The cultural stuff will remain. Currently in my head I have the idea that the legacy could unlock the ability to "migrate" to Pontus (using a CB like a Varangian adventure where you leave your old lands behind and get a bunch of free Amazon troops) and establish a new kingdom for the Amazons there, possibly with a branching path option to expand into Scythian territory or take it in a more "fantasy" direction and go for a fully Amazonian Anatolia/Greece.

It would be interesting to get an Amazonian legend that allows to diverge into that culture, sicne there seem to be legends that are supposed to do something like that?
Or a just legend where you claim to be descendent from Hippolyta.

Another interesting thing would be a religious tenet that enforces female only military, but not sure if such a thing is possible.
fhqwhgads  [developer] 8 Mar, 2024 @ 8:19am
Cultures already can have female-only martial traditions, though I believe it requires the Royal Court DLC to mess with that? The Amazon culture has that tradition at any rate. But as for mechanical effect, well, I can't really change the 3D armies of the models because I'm not really a 3D modeler. I can barely mess around with the icons and graphics that I'm already doing in the mod.

You misunderstood - I ment a *religious* tenet. Mostly to save me the hassle of converting all cultures in my realm. :D
But yes, that should need RC.

Anyways, looking forward to future developments and thank you for the mod. =)

I've been working on the upcoming Amazon-focused update, and it's going pretty well. The initial release however will probably have no special functionality for legends, as I want to design the features for those without the DLC in mind first. I will add additional functionality for legends later.

Ugh, I'm annoyed that I haven't managed to push out an update yet. I've made a lot of progress, but it wouldn't make sense to release it right now, given the casus belli and kingdom formations aren't done yet and I just haven't yet found time to sit down and work on it over the weekend. Really sorry about that.

Basically, I've reworked the Amazons into a semi-hidden reputation-based system where you earn more and more Amazon favor by hiring Amazon courtiers, sending them into battle, taking them on hunts, and adopting matriarchy dynasty legacies. You unlock more of the Amazon-related features by getting higher reputation with them. Once you reach the mid-level, you can conquer a homeland for the Amazons, and once you become the Queen of Themiscyra or Scythia, you can settle the Amazon diaspora in your lands. The Amazon culture has also been reworked so you can diverge/hybridize the Amazonian culture and it will still count as Amazonian for certain features (i.e. you can recruit Amazons of this culture) as long as it maintains one of the matriarchy traditions. It also uses the new ancient Hellenic heritage and language.

Additionally, the Amazons follow their own religion now. There's nothing really special about it, but you can reform it if you control the holy sites. Many Amazon-related features are being moved around, such that the fourth Matriarchy perk no longer relates to the Amazons. I also plan to put in some features so that if you start with the Amazon culture you can jumpstart past some of the alliance stuff to form the homeland without getting reputation up first. The Amazonian hippotoxotai (horse archers) will be locked to the Scythian path.

I have an imgur album with some screenshots of the in-progress stuff, because I feel like I should show that I am working on this: https://imgur.com/a/dQsSA3R I wanted to have this done by now but I just haven't done so yet. Hoping to get more out to you guys soon.

The update is going very well. Unless I run into significant trouble, I would expect to have it pushed out by this weekened. I've been throwing in some extra flavor things such as the ability to choose a new faith for the Amazons if you end up far from their holy sites, or the ability to adopt the Scythian language if you end up forming Scythia, so these things have been taking a bit of extra time but I think they add to the experience.

Again, I want to note this update is almost completely focused on the Amazons--restructuring the Amazon alliance, forming Amazon kingdoms/empires, reforming the Amazon culture, and introducing a new Amazon religion, etc.. I haven't done anything with legends yet, and I'm not sure to what extent I will (I do have a few matriarchal legends in mind, but I still haven't really thought of a good way to get a good legend about Sappho). I've also redone the 4th matriarchy perk, since it is no longer associated with the Amazons. I have done a little bit of backtracking and included the new bathhouse background for some events, used the dance animation where it's appropriate, and generally tried to update some older features with newer additions as well. But mostly, it's an Amazon update. Hoping to get it public by Sunday or Monday.

Just to prepare, a new save game will be necessary to take advantage of the new features coming. You can't really add things like new faiths and titles to existing saves. I'm not sure if it will outright cause crashing if you try to play on an old save or not, but I do know that some things may not work as intended.

Is it possible to put the Adopt Child feature under a game rule or add more checks? I play with all sexualities equal and almost every ruler I interact with has an adopted child. Even those who didn't need to. I don't know if this helps for inspiration, but I had much success playing this mod with the Adoption Options mod. Thank you.

The AI should only be allowed to take the decision if all of their consorts (spouses and concubines) are same-sex or they have very low fertility--does that match what you're seeing?
