Not entirely sure what it does I didn't notice any real changes afterwords. But to get a Space Marine you have to research "Gene-Seed Implantation" in the R40k-IMP1 tree. That will give you access to the Conversion pod under the misc build tab. Build it and put your chosen pawn inside. After some time they will come out as a Space Marine.

Which pawns can you put into the pod? I get 'Invalid Race'
Only humans I would assume.

Ok so only "Terrans" can enter the pod to become Astartes. For some reason the mod adds its own race of Humans. You can put normal humans into the same pod to become Terran humans who can then go back into the pod to become Astartes. Being an Astartes does improve your pawns in pretty much all the ways you would expect, they move faster and are stronger and have more hitpoints and even grow the unique organs like a secondary heart and a third lung and all the other more obscure ones from lore so they really are immune to food poisoning and disease, they even visually have the black carapace and are much larger and are the only race who can wear 40k power armor. They also have lifespans of 2000 years.

Figured as such tho was unsure. When I did the conversion I expected them to have conditions like they do with bionics and other modifications but didn't see anything so figured it was more for cosmetic things or only that body type is able to wear power armor. But after looking at my space marine's surgery options I saw the extra organs.

But if I check their stats the changes don’t show up. Do the organs and stats come over time or should happen instantly?
I had a regular pawn, Terran and astartes do a “running” contest. From the looks of it, nothing changed or it was so minor that I didn’t notice it.
If I enable the geneSeed mod, I can see the organs and the stats update pretty much. So should I use both?

There's no visible change on the health screen because they are at their baseline for that race, just like there's no visible difference in the health screen for a Tau, Eldar or Ork. If the stats are as I remember, Astartes sleep half as long, eat half as much, punch a good bit harder, are completely safe from most illness, like infections, etc. They soak up a damn sight more damage and have the additional organs but won't be shown on the health screen unless damaged because it's their baseline stats.

@Bischof The Geneseed mod shows up on your heath tab because that modifies the stats of a vanilla human pawn, like how a human with bionic legs will have over 100% moving. The astartes in this mod are their own race so they have higher base stats, you can see those by pressing the 'i' for info on a pawn, Terran pawns (5.20) are faster than vanilla human pawns (4.60) for some reason and astartes are faster than both (5.80). you also cant see the extra organs under health because they're a built in part of the Astartes race, you can see them in developer mode or if you try to perform surgery on them.

Thank you all for the reply. Makes more sense now. :)

Just making a note here, make sure you remove any prostetics before converting them to space marines as you wont be able to remove them outside of dev mode otherwise once they're converted and it still applies the debuffs/buffs of said prostetic

you can only turn "terrans" into astartes, Terrans are a different race than human (not sure why) you can turn Vanilla human pawns into Terran pawns in the same conversion pod and then into astartes after that.
its been months since i played this mod but if i remember you just select the pawn and right click onto the conversion pod to open the option menu.

i tried to right clic on the conversion pod with a terran but nothing happened, do i have to place the pod near something else? i can't even destroy the pod or do something else with it
