WarFighter DLC Expansion Announcement
**Welcome to a new MAJOR announcement for WarFighter Modification and Yuri Lin (me)'s authored content for Call to Arms series!**

It has been a long while there is any major breakthrough of updates for the WarFighter modification, or a consideration of expansion into making similar-themed and functional mod for Gates of Hell: Ostfront. Now, it is time to change that. There will be two new upcoming crowdfunded expansion/DLC content that will first be created and made available for select subscribers and contributors, before being released and made available to all subscribers and the public in the future. These content are:

- GoH: **WarFighter: WW2** = a modification made for Gates of Hell: Ostfront, including all DLCs for the official game such as Talvisota and Liberation assets, focused on almost complete overhaul of small arms and vehicle weapon ballistics, accuracy, and damage of World War 2-era weapons and equipment to a more hardcore, realistic, low time-to-kill and consistent accuracy and zeroing of weaponry with more varying variables and new mechanics introduced from the existing WarFighter Modification in Call to Arms such as; weapon reliability, jamming, individualized weapon performance and stats, different accuracy parameters for different weapons of the same category, and multi-layered damage values and mechanics as featured in WarFighter in CtA. Vehicle guns will be made to have ballistics that make more sense, in line and more natural with the gun performance and how the vehicle gunner would engage with it. HE and HEAT shells are made to have the same range as AP shells, albeit with different ballistic performance. Range of weapons are tweaked to be in line and similar to CtA's WarFighter, albeit with inferior accuracy and precision compared to their modern-era counterparts. It may have similar concept and weapon modifications as in CtA's WarFighter, but given it is WW2-themed, things will still heavily differ compared to modern era stuff. Direct control accuracy is substantially increased to be similar to CtA WarFighter's level. Delivering authentic, tactical RTS/FPS hybrid gameplay. Weapon tweaks are based off historical manuals and professional weapon handling of individual weapons, as according to professional shooters and WW2 veterans.

- CtA: **WarFighter Modification: Formations/Divisions DLC** = major expansion and update to WarFighter for Call to Arms that introduces an entire, major overhaul on how Conquest works and introduces multiple new sub-factions with new units and roleplay factors, available for both player and AI, in the form of formations or divisions for both Conquest and Skirmish. If you know how you can pick between different divisions or formations in Steel Division 2 -- that's the idea we are going to implement in WarFighter mod. The base game factions will remain with base game factions having access to all available units of that faction, but does not specialize on anything and loses out on certain unique units (better skilled support crew, better skilled support elements, unique vehicles, unique infantry squads, etc) that are available ONLY in certain formations/divisions. Formations and divisions sub-factions also have completely new, built from scratch, Conquest tech tree and different unit availability in both Conquest and Skirmish. **US Army**'s *82nd Airborne Division* will have entirely different lineup and roster than *1st Armored Division* for example, and different units available and things exclusive to that certain division, making different divisions specialize in different units and strengths. Same goes for the comparison between the **Russian ** *4th Guards Tank Division* and *98th Guards Airborne Division*. Formations sub-factions are based off real life equivalent of their unit's table of equipment and organization, quality of gear and personnel, and historical/technical record.

**Stay tuned for further DLC information for CtA WF mod in #formations-divisions-sub-factions-overview !**

**Upcoming Call to Arms: WarFighter Modification sub-factions/formations and their general overview, unit roster, details**

*The upcoming DLC expansion for WarFighter will be a crowdfunded, albeit massive overhaul to an already existing large scale overhaul mod. The expansion includes new sub-factions in the form of “formations” for United States Armed Forces and Russian Armed Forces, made with exclusive, distinct unit rosters, their own unique squad compositions, Platoon/Company HQ element, different unit availability and price modifiers, special unique units that are only available to them, all based off their unit’s real life counterparts, table of organization and equipment, quality of personnel and gear, etc.*

*Bear in mind, this DOES NOT mean the default, base game U.S. Army and RGF factions will be removed. Albeit, the default base game factions will be jack-of-all-trades factions that provide many units available by default for the faction, but with different availability, price modifiers, and lack of specialization, no unique exclusive units, no exclusive perks, and lack of HQ elements that can allow more units to be put in call-in phases in Conquest game mode.*

*All formations/sub-factions will be available in both Conquest and Skirmish/Multiplayer game modes for both players and AI.*

*Without further delay, let’s proceed toward the overview of the list of formations/sub-factions that will be featured in the DLC expansion.*

The 82nd traces its history back to being the first U.S. Army Airborne Division ever formed and to see action in WW2, serving with distinction including in the famed Operation Market Garden, to seeing major combat in virtually almost all major engagements during America’s war in the Cold War era (Vietnam, Grenada, Panama), Middle East (Gulf War, War on Terror), and was the first U.S. Army division to come and assist in the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan (Operation Allies Refuge), including U.S. citizens, Special Immigrant Visa applicants, valuable Afghan personnel, and other vulnerable Afghans. 82AB is composed of primarily Infantry Brigade Combat Teams backed by other elements. I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF)

Type: Light/Amphibious

*Based at Camp Pendleton, California. The 15th MEU is one of the seven MEUs currently in existence in the United States Marine Corps. A Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) with a strength of more than 2.000 personnel, the MEU consists of a command element, a reinforced infantry battalion, a composite helicopter squadron, and a combat logistics battalion. Following the event of the 9/11 terrorist attack, the unit continued its humanitarian mission in East Timor before sailing through the North Arabian Sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Active during the War on Terror and constantly shipping to different theaters to conduct different operations, the MEU is relatively battle-hardened and experienced. The 15th MEU provides a forward deployed, flexible sea-based MAGTF capable of conducting Amphibious Operations, crisis response and limited contingency operations, to include enabling the introduction of follow-on forces and designated special operations, in order to support the theater requirements of Geographic Combatant Commanders (GCC).*

**4th Guards Tank Division “Kantemirovskaya” (4GTD) **
**Russian**: *4-ya Gvardeyskaya Tankovaya Diviziya «Kantemirovskaya»*

1st Guards Tank Army (1GTA), Western Military District

Type: Armored

*An armored division of the Russian Ground Forces (RGF) formed as the armored spearhead of 1st Guards Tank Army (1GTA). It initially begun its life as the 17th Tank Corps shortly after Operation Barbarossa, in WW2. For distinction in combat in Operation Little Saturn, it was renumbered to 4th Guards Tank Corps in January 1943. The Corps received the honorific “Kantemirovskaya” after the village of Kantemirovka in Kantemirovsky District, Voronezh Oblast, which its tank sub-units liberated from German occupation in their baptism of fire. Reorganized into the 4th Guards Tank Division, it was one of the two major divisions deployed in Moscow in August 1991 as part of the failed hardline coup against Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. During the Special Military Operation (SMO), the 4GTD took heavy casualties in the Battle of Kharkiv, forcing it to be returned to Russia for refitting. Today, it is composed of primarily tank regiments backed by reconnaissance battalion, motorized rifle regiments, and self-propelled artillery units, with a mixture of surviving veterans with majority of the units being replacement troops and vehicles, cobbled up to recover its strength… but it will never recover to its former glory in decades. The division uniquely primarily employs T-80 tank variants.*

**2nd Guards Motor Rifle Division “Tamanskaya” (2GMRD) **
**Russian**: *2-ya Gvardeyskaya Motostrelkovaya Diviziya «Tamanskaya»*

1st Guards Tank Army (1GTA), Western Military District

Type: Mechanized

*A motor rifle division of the Russian Ground Forces (RGF) formed as the premier mechanized spearhead of 1st Guards Tank Army (1GTA). It started as the 127th Rifle Division in 1940 during the outbreak of WW2. For distinguished combat service, it was redesignated as the 2nd Guards Rifle Division. After participating in the Novorossiysk-Taman offensive in September - October 1943, the division was renamed to 2nd Guards “Tamanskaya” Motor Rifle Division after the city of Taman, Russia. In 1991, the 2GMRD was one of the divisions partaking in the coup against USSR president Mikhail Gorbachev, and later came to Boris Yeltsin’s rescue two years later. It was later engaged in Chechnya, helping to bring the republic back under Russian control during the Chechen War. Together with 4GTD and other units, it was formed as a part of the re-instated 1st Guards Tank Army, rebuilt in legacy of the famous Soviet era 1st Guards Red Banner Tank Army. It received its baptism of fire in Ukraine, 2022, during the Battle of Kyiv where it failed to take over the city of Kyiv, and suffered heavy losses at Izium. The amount of losses suffered forced it to be retired to Belarus for replenishment, until it was redeployed again. This division primarily uses T-90 and T-72 tanks, and are equipped with BMP-2 and BMP-3 IFVs.*

**98th Guards Airborne Division (98GAD)**
**Russian**: *98-ya Gvardeyskaya Vozdushno-Desantnaya Diviziya*

Type: Airborne/Light

*An airborne division that is formed as part of the Russian Airborne Forces (VDV). First, it existed as the 98th Guards Rifle Division that used to be consist of multiple Independent Guards Airborne Brigades (IGAB) before they were reconstituted to be a Guards Rifle Division in WW2. During the Cold War period, it transformed into an airborne division. Post Soviet Union dissolution, it was relocated to Ivanovo, Russia. Following an agreement between Russia and Ukraine during more peaceful times, a significant amount of ethnic Ukrainian paratroopers (40% of the division’s manpower) was transferred to the Ukrainian military. In 2022, the division participated in the Special Military Operation (SMO), suffering substantial amount of losses during their push toward Kyiv. However, compared to other VDV units who suffered worse fate during the battle for Hostomel Airport, the 98GAB remained more intact in their structural integrity, thus retaining more combat effectiveness. Still actively in engagement in the SMO, without a doubt, they are one of the more solid Russian formations during the entire “very special” operation. Being a part of the VDV, they have substantially better training, equipment, and standardization in comparison to their brethens from the Motor Rifle Divisions. They have utmost priority in receiving the “Ratnik” infantry combat system.*

**Storm-V “Vityazi”**
**Russian**: *Shtorm-V «Vityazi»*

Type: Penal/Irregular

*Storm-V units serve as penal infantry units made up convicted criminals, soldiers of the Russian Army under court martial punishment, and anyone deemed as “lowly scums of the society”. It is none other than the continuation of the disbanded Storm-Z penal units, albeit restructured under a different designation after the Russian president authorized the predicament. Poorly trained and equipped, captured Storm unit prisoners reported that they were only given 15 days or less of training before being sent to the frontlines, too often with poor leadership, lack of supplies and basic necessities, and faulty equipment. Prisoners have confirmed reports of barrier troops, often consisting of veteran Russian Army units being stationed behind the Storm detachments, threatening them to go back to the frontlines should they retreat… and cowardice will result in free “morale checks” by ripping off the life of a Storm detachment soldier to show the rest of what they’d receive should they continue their acts of cowardice. Regardless of the casualties they suffer, Storm units will be sent until they achieve their objectives and forced to serve until the end of the Special Military Operation (SMO).*

*What the hell are you waiting for? Stop lolylagging around and take that position, clear it from those pigs, or else I’ll be the one putting holes on you with my pistol!*

**PMC "Redut"**
**Russian**: * ChVK «Redut»*

Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation (MODRF)

Type: Irregular/Light

*Redut, also known as Redoubt, Redut-Antiterror or Center-R, is a Russian Private Military Company (PMC) that is a part of the "Antiterror-family" -- which consists of similarly named PMCs that protect commercial operations of Russian companies. According to an RFE/RL investigation, "Redut" is fully controlled and managed by the GRU and acts as a proxy umbrella organization for mercenaries, acting as a financial institution, and conducting recruitment and logistical supply of various formations. Members of the PMC Redut come from various elite and special operations backgrounds within the Russian military, such as 106th Airborne Division, 56th Air Assault Division, 173rd Special Operations Forces, 2nd GRU Special Forces Brigade, and 45th Guards Spetsnaz Detached Brigade. Most of these Russian ex-special operations personnel have extensive combat experiences, both in and outside the Russian military jurisdiction, from Ukraine to Syria, to unknown corners of the world – acting as elite private personal protection details for Russian convoys, corporate real estates, oil companies, diplomats, and political elites of the Russian Federation. With the war in Ukraine, it had rivalry with PMC Wagner, although in the end, Redut stood on top.*

*General Vladimir Alexeyev said that it was the Redut that was to play a decisive role in the first days of the invasion. According to one of the sources, it included a group that was supposed to kill the Ukrainian president on the day of the invasion in the Kyiv offensive. Alexeyev himself was engaged not only in the military part, but also in the political one -- he had to organize the transfer of power to new hands and negotiated this with Ukrainian politicians, for example with Azarov. Many of the plans of the GRU turned out to be known in advance to the Western and Ukrainian special services. In the Kyiv offensive, Redut sustained heavy losses in which the fighting force was compromised by up to 90%, which practically eliminated the Redut PMC, leaving Prigozhin's Wagner Group to dominate the scene. After the event, remaining Redut contractors were offered contracts by Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) to officially serve in the Russian Armed Forces. Thus, from then on, it was under the Russian MoD’s jurisdiction and rebuilt.*

*Despite heavy losses, PMC Redut quickly regained its strength in part due to recruitment of prisoners and labor migrants. Ever since Wagner lost its leadership, many former Wagner members were absorbed into Redut. According to the director of Mayak Intelligence, Redut has emerged as the main Russian PMC and is much more active in Africa and Syria. Volunteers to the PMC Redut are mostly disciplined and motivated, coming from a network of recruiting hubs and various backgrounds, ranging from mediocre contract levies to former elite special operations. Volunteers are not restricted to Russian nationalities, as pro-Russian foreign volunteers came and went too.*

*PMC Redut has been far more discreet from the media compared to PMC Wagner… well, at least now you know. After all, Wagner is no more than a funny footmark in history. Escape from Tarkov and Russian PMC in that game are not far from reality, it seems.*
