The beams make no sound, and they do an incredible amount of damage, picture something like a coilgun or MAC round from one of the Halo mods, but with a wider damage radius (say about 5-6 meters) and rounds produced by the turret via power consumption. To balance this, the turrets have a very low rate of fire (30-45 seconds between shots) and are reasonably inaccurate, drifting up to 25 meters off-target at maximum range (10 km).
The end result is a large-ship 1x1x1 ball turret that performs fairly well against large ships, but is almost totally useless for point defence.
EDIT: I'd make this myself, but IDK how to mod :(
basic idea is that if you've got between 8-10 lasers firing at maximum range, odds are that only 1-2 would actually hit their target. These things are meant for either knife-fighting range or stupidly massive salvos (think 10+ turrets firing at once).
