XCOM 2
(WotC) Spectrum: Enemies and Aegis Division
Color coding idea
Hi, just wanted to give my two cents regarding differentiating the colored variants. I think it would make the most sense to theme them around other popular advent packs that are out there.
Note 1: I purposely left out alien packs and went with advent-only as "companion mods".
Note 2: I may be tripping, but i think i see 6 different "glow" colors, based on screenshots. It might be just 5 though, and that one troop is either light blue or purplish.
Whether there are 5 or 6 colors (or even in the case of there being 7 color variants), the following still applies pretty well imo:

IF there are 6 colors:
Red - regular advent with extra abilities. companion mods - claus' advent packs
Green - poison theme. companion mods - bio division
Yellow - fire theme. companion mods - advent purge unit
Purple - psionic theme. companion mods - purge priests, advent psi ops etc.
Blue - ice theme. companion mods - frost legion
White - riot control/tank theme. companion mods - praetorians (yes, they're
pink. But it's good enough imo)

IF there are 5 colors(no white variant):
Red enemies as the tanky/riot control unit; in case i'm tripping and there are no white glow units

IF there are 7 colors (white variant is a thing + pink variant is present, but not shown clearly):
Red- regular advent with extra abilities OR riot control theme (interchangeable with white)
White - regular advent with extra abilities OR riot control theme (interchangeable with red)
Pink - tank+support theme. (to reflect the praetorian theme fully)

Sorry if this is wordy or unclear and i hope you like the idea.

Actually had some more time to think about it.

White glow is the only one that doesnt have a thematic "multi-unit companion mod", unless im forgetting a pack. (Stuff like fanatics doesn't really fit, since we already have psionics under purple)

So, if going the 7 color route:
Red - riot control/"high tech" advent
White - A different type of support than a pink praetorian-style. Themed around healing/repairing, removing status effects, "un-hacking" hijacked robotics, buffing/debuffing with utility items. Least damage-oriented of all color variants.

Hi,

i really like your work and i'm totally on board with bringing mods like this from vanilla to WOTC.
I saw your last update about bringing aliens from Spectrum Green and i'd like to ask: is it possible for you to import more of the Advent/MEC skins from that mod to use in your version like you did with Aegis? please? Those look really great with their cold colors and emissive details.
There is a mod called 스펙트럼 어드밴트 WOTC (Spectrum Advent WOTC), the author tried to port the original Spectrum Green to WOTC but on top of he not asking permission to the OG authors, the mod doesn't work. i couldn't even use Enemy Reskinner with it. It would be a complete waste to not use those visuals.

The Spectrum Yellow units, which this started as a port of, are largely the same as the advent units from Spectrum Green. Green named the "factions" differently than yellow, like Prometheus instead of Pyro, but they are otherwise the same basic things. Green has two advent groups that yellow didn't, Shadow (black armor) and Titan (white with yellow emissives). I'm not entirely sure what makes them distinct. There are also a few extras here and there, like a riot heavy, that yellow didn't add.

As for the colors. Spectrum ramped up the specular value, which gives the armor a metallic sheen, that looks really nice but is a bit harder to quickly identify which color it is as they become slightly reflective in game. I found that a matte color made them visually pop better.
