Clan Encounters & Balancing
First of all, if you have been struggling to find Clan Encounters, install Star Map Mouse Over;

And look for contracts versus the downwards-pointing star.

So, I'm making this thread out of a mixture of confusion, and irritation. As you know, it takes until 3049 for Clan 'contracts' to start showing up on the Starmap, but they only work VERSUS the Clans, and they can show up quite literally anywhere as far as the contracts are concerned (they're treated like Independents/Pirates as far as contract generation goes).

Once found, I find myself facing an overwhelming disparity of IIC Mechs, which are fine if you want to grind out some Clan parts, but due to their Battle Value, the salvage rights to these parts often cost more than some IS Mechs.

I've also started to notice that after 3059, Clan weapons/parts will start showing up in the shop, which I think IS intended, just not their mechs unless I sell one to that particular Market.

Anyway, onto the whole point of this discussion; Force balancing and disparity

Even in Warzones and Garrison Duty, it's IIC Rifleman here, IIC Shadowhawk there, and a dozen or so Clan Tanks and other combined arms elements. In my 10 hour playthrough, I have encountered ONE Savage Wolf, a hero variant at that, which far outstripped even the game's salvage allocation in a Reputation 10 Conflict Zone with ~15 negotiation points allocated to salvage.

Are these things just not meant to be salvaged? Do we need the 75% modifiers from Multi-Missions to have a chance? And even then, is there even any certainty that we'll face something worth salvaging on said missions or will it just be another IIC Rifleman.

I have all these mods & am having ZERO luck getting clan fights HELP!

Is the year 3050/3051 onwards, and quite specifically, are you looking for fights versus the Clans, not with the Clans.

That's an important distinction. Clanner Mechs will not show up unless you specifically take a contract VERSUS them. You'll know because it'll be VS the downwards-pointing red star.

Had done that, had to join the YAML discord, there is actually a mod missing with recent version which you can ONLY get through the YAML discor

The latest version might improve the chances to encounter non IIC variants. There were some BV issues.
As for the salvage: I try to optimize for Salvage V2 because that is what I prefer. Thus, I never put much effort into the variants basic salvage values. I am very open to impoved values here.
As for the shops: I would personally prefer to only be able to find the rare Clan item in black markets but nothing in normal shops. This, however, would require some changes in YAML that I did not find the energy to attack yet. ;)

I'm using Salvage V2, you are aware that the weapon share cost for (C) Equipment starts at 3 Shares (including most ammo) and scales up into the 30's on a single piece of equipment

Even the partial mech shares are quite literally double, sometimes triple that of their Inner Sphere counterparts, leading to awkward situations where a piece of a Savage Wolf variant drops in the salvage screen and ends up being 60+ shares.

But nonetheless, thank you for your responses! I look forward to seeing how the balance is reflected with the latest version.

Thank you for this post, I was struggling to find any contracts with clans. Star Map Mouse Over helped a bunch.

Thank you very much for creating these mods and absolutely giving me a nostalgic gem to play since my childhood was Mechassault and MA 2. I am however finding it exceedingly difficult to destroy the Ebon Jaguars. They literally take no damage unless I melee them. I finally killed one and salvaged it and it also is nearly invincible, the only way I can get it to take damage during a mission is to crit a mech and stand in the explosion. Is it a glitch with the armor values or is that mech just supposed to be ridiculously hard?

This sounds like a bug, are you using any other mods that change armour values or could affect them?

It should be noted that YAML and MercTech are mutually exclusive.

I haven't run into any mechs that outright ignore ranged damage, and just to confirm, they ARE taking armour damage from weapons right?
My mod list is as follows:

VonBiomes - Mod Options - Notonnagelimit - YAML Mechs - TTRULEZ_AIMOD2 - Yeti Jumpship animation remover - Yet Another Weapon - Classic Mechassault Mechs - YetAnotherClanMech - MW5 Compatibility Pack - Yet Another Weapon Clan

List off my active mods list in MW5 menu screen. I will find a way to video the issue and put it up on youtube and link it here. I also haven't messed with any config files in the MW5 directory other than within the options menu in-game and in-mission. Again I've been having an insane amount of fun playing these mods and I've just passed 3049 in my first career playthrough and was able to slay any enemy mech in seconds so I found it strange that it took no damage whatsoever. Quad gauss cannons simultaneously to the same limb did nothing but jumping on it, slamming into it and meleeing it damaged the mech but only just a bit.

I've played with all of these except VonBiomes and Classic Mechassault Mechs. I'm going to go on a limb and say the latter probably has something to do with it.

Also, make sure you have all the dependencies subscribed as well. I'm sure if anything else is wrong here SirFallsDownALot will reveal it to us in due time.

All right I'll disable the Mechassault Mechs mod and see what happens, there definitely could be some kind of interaction because the mechassault mech mods includes weapons and armor that's not in YAML or YAWC. I'll report back, thank you again for the quick responses and for your awesome work

Ah okay I see well thank you so much for trying to help me regardless! A commenter on my video found what the real issue was finally, it was a bug with the friendly fire system, he didn't know how to disable the disable friendly fire option in the menu but I did so I tested it and the ebon jaguars took damage with the friendly fire on. The devs however fixed it in the meantime so that's that. Thanks anyways and have a great day!
