So, the map water is downgraded on purpose. It displays a cubemap reflection. I had to do it this way as an optimization measure because water in this map is an absolute killer and I mean it.

However if you don't care at all about framerates and do wish to see this map in all of its beauty and glory.... Follow these simple steps and you'll get it done in no time.

Is super easy, go to your main Garrys Mod folder..

"steamapps/GarrysMod/garrysmod/addons"

Create a new folder, you can name it as you want, what matters is the contents of this folder.

Inside of this folder create a "materials" folder, Inside of materials create another one and give it this same exact name "gm_maldives" you will have name them as I say or it wont work.

Inside of gm_maldives create the final folder "water_maldives"

So the final structure is:

"GarrysMod/garrysmod/addons/a_random_name/materials/gm_maldives/water_maldives"

GOOD. Here you will create the .vmt files which the game will read and load above the addon when the map is loaded.

Create 4 (four) .vmt files with notepad or any other text editor. Just be sure to save them as .vmt file extension.

Name them like this:

m_water_day.vmt
m_water_day-pool.vmt
m_water_dusk.vmt
m_water_dusk-pool.vmt

And now you will copy-paste the following text for each .vmt file.

That's it!

Start GMOD, load the map and you will experience the full power of raytraced water.
And you can say Bye-Bye to your Framerate. But damn it looks good.
