There is no cap on how loud Please Feed's noise can be, no diminishing returns to slow the radius growing. The noise grows by the same amount each corpse. In default settings three corpses together can summon zombies within 60 tiles (IIRC), which is huge, but every corpse after is another 20 tiles. Shotguns in brita's gun mod are 70 range. The author said they would like to implement new options when they get time, but they're busy with contract work atm.
The best success I've had in this mod is carrying a shovel 24/7, preparing graves before a fight and immediately burying corpses afterwards. If I don't finish fast enough and new zombies start coming in, I just leave immediately, it will only get worse.
I’m also using it in conjunction with reanimator so if they don’t get eaten or buried within the first 3 days they come back.
That's a really good question. Looking at the code, skeletons don't add to the "noise" range and they can't generate a horde.
The mod author said that the pull range increases much faster than they intended and will fix it when they can. I would play with hordes disabled in the meanwhile unless you like suffering.
