If this problem is not fixable or hard to fix then perhapse we can get an option to turn that system on/off?
I have found few bugs when playing as combine:
1. When playing as assassin, quite often player becomes immune to damage. It persists once it happens and only forcing respawn fixes it (for a short time until it happens again). My short-term solution (not optimal, but works) for now has adding a loop to allow damage for unit every 3 seconds (air time of jump lasts about 2.7).
2. When playing as charger and using your shield ability, AI refuses to shoot you. They act as you weren't even there.
