Isolated Training is way too powerful to still be a tier 2 perk
The high frequency weapons are way too expensive and somehow still overpowered for the stage in the game you can find them, a high price doesn't justify the high damage, grinding more just means you wasted your life more
The old katana attack animation was better, this one looks like a hunk of garbage
The entirety of the Wanderer tree is bad, getting a 30% attack speed increase at tier ONE is absolutely absurd
Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru was plenty powerful enough, a 2.5% chance for a 10x damage doesn't need a buff, true potential knew what they were doing, upwards of 2000% damage increases with the right conditions should not go above 3% at most
Water blade is still completely absurd, you can literally just throw a grenade into a crawler nest and oops, now I can craft 15 high frequency blades
In contrast, blade draw is completely worthless, the ONLY reason you'd have for taking it over water blade is for a measly 50% extra damage increase on land, which is like 5% of the combat in the whole game, even then, charge attack does that in less time, and you get that as tier 1, so blade draw's even more worthless.
The generic talents are all over the place, we've got random garbage like a measly 80 xp per mission, next to AUTO INJECTOR HEADSET RECIPE AS A TIER 1 TALENT FOR A MELEE BASED CLASS, like, dawg, what are you doing
The starting items are utterly ridiculous, I thought the titanium and steel was to get a katana once you get the talent, and now we just have that on top of an extra one, imagine how easy it would be to commit lifen't over and over and just get hundreds of infinite titanium, not to mention, the introduction of depleted fuel is pretty pointless since you can only craft one things with it (two, now, but it's still pointless)
MURASAKI IS STILL IN THE GAME, the whole thing with artie dolittle is he's free, but absolute garbage, and we just get a better version of that, multiple times and they're the extremely overpowered blade class, alright, okay buddy, uhuh, yes
I'm just gonna go over a few generic talents that have no point being there, really quick, *clears throat and un-rolls rolled up scroll*
Medical Companion is completely stupid to get, not only as a tier 1 perk, but for a melee based class, if you want to get reassurance, just get a medic
War Stories is the equivalent of nothing when we've got stuff like Swole over here
Boarding Party doesn't make sense, not only because why would you even craft an axe or a gun, you are a katana man, and also because, again, just get things other classes get earlier than they can even get them
And I can't help but notice how not a single unique generic perk exists when we have 18 regular perks and TWO three choice perks as well as 3 multi-choice perks in the same tree
Now, it's time for sword smith, ahem
There's no point in having two perks that both increase weapon quality in the same tree, getting 100 weapons skill already gets excellent quality, and by the time you get the second one, if you don't already have max weapons, what are you doing with your life?
Inflict 100% more bleeding damage with a weapon that deals like 20 bleed damage in it's weakest form? HA HA HA HA.
And master sword smith, just, please, for the love of god, just remove the high frequency weapons, don't even try to fix them, just remove them, please, this is not okay, okay?
Alright, next on the list, AHERM, AHEM, wanderer, oh boy, wanderer
Again, I said it once, and I'll say it again, wandering stranger is ju- urgh, I'm getting too old for this... just remove it or change it to tier 4 or something
An Apple A Day is nice to have, but feels out of place, you don't get your power from dying like with grayshirt, you get it from being almost dead
Now, Berserker and Foolhardy
You literally get a flat 30% attack speed at level one PLUS MORE, but with this, you get 20% extra damage, and only at 50% health? Are you actually stupid? What is wrong with you? Am I seriously the only person who saw the problem with this? You have to be a literal ape writing this garbage, are you nuts? Genuinely what is wrong with you?

There is no reason to pick low stance over charge attack, they both effectively do the same thing, with charge attack, you get more damage in less attacks, with low stance you get more damage in less attacks, but with charge attack you can actually use it in more than ONE scenario, low stance literally only works on land, whereas charge attack works everywhere INCLUDING land
Isolated Training should absolutely be a tier 4 perk, the fact it's been in the same spot for A YEAR just goes to show how little quality checking was put into this mod.

WATER BLAAADDE OVER BLADE DRAWWW
So, blade draw, every TWO AND A HALF SECONDS you get a 100% damage increase, meanwhile, with water blade, if you're in water you get that bonus ALWAYS, PLUS a 60% chance on EVERY KILL to just get free physicorium to arm your entire crew with the strongest melee weapon in the whole game, why not? I can't help but notice, by the way
It used to be 40%
The most overpowered perk in the mod used to be 40%
And you buffed it.
You BUFFED The most OVERPOWERED perk in the mod
I'm actually at a loss for words.
Anyway, I don't even need to go on, but here's even MORE reasons why both blade draw AND water blade should be removed.
You get 100% extra damage every 2.5 seconds, taking into account the roughly one swing per second attack speed of the katana, and the permanent 50% damage increase of water blade, that's already 150% more extra damage than blade draw, in land alone, the fact blade draw even exists is a sin against humanity
I'm not saying you should buff blade draw or remove it entirely, I'm saying you should nerf THE HELL out of water blade, 100% damage increase for a tier 3 perk is already stupid, 75% at most, and GET RID of the alien material chance entirely
Now, for the last three perks
I will say, the fact they all give you a little boost is kinda cool, but that's basically the only thing this mod has going for it.
The Mad Swordsman counteracts the entire mod, I thought the whole thing with this crap was going fast and cutting bois, and then we just can't do half of that anymore, just go ahead and completely delete isolated training will you? thanks.
Not to mention the max of 150% temporary damage buffs of both of these perks is completely overshadowed by the 10x damage crit chance, like come on, who thought that was real? I have more things to say about this, but I don't even feel like it, like all of this alone should be enough to justify MASSIVE changes to this AWFUL mod.
Ignoring the inconsistencies and poor design choices, now, about the strength of the mod itself, don't even try to argue "Oh, no, read the disclaimer in the description, blah blah blah" NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, You can literally get a perk that allows you to get the materials to make one of the most overpowered melee weapons in the game easier than ever, you can then arm your entire crew with it, or, spec fully into maximizing your damage output, and then just one shot literally everything you come across
Bring back true potential but stronger

This isn't some last resort, this is a powerhouse, a weapon of destruction, blade is NOT some goofy little moron who go kills himself to try and fend off a few hammerheads, he knows where you live, he WILL find you, and he WILL kill you
You are not safe.
Your walls will not protect you.
And even then, that doesn't justify all the horrible inconsistencies and absolute perk bloat in the mod, just because you can only use melee weapons does not make it balanced IN THE SLIGHTEST
The sheer amount of durability enhancing perks you can get, like STUN IMMUNITY COMPLETELY counteracts ANY AND ALL range downsides you could possibly have.

In conclusion
Blade job is one of the most overpowered, unbalanced, all over the place, inconsistent, poorly developed mods out there, and I'm genuinely appalled at how many people still use it, the mod was always bad, and it keeps getting worse, you keep adding new stuff instead of fixing what actually needs attention, I doubt you'll take the time to read this, or even change any of it if you do, but if you do decide to listen to our prayers, I can offer some advice on how to fix, or completely revamp the horrible talents and talent tree layouts

I'm here lol, that's why I made this discussion thread.
I've actually never made it past the first area ingame, and most of my time is spent jumping around other people's servers.
Glad to have suggestions from someone who knows the right balance.

You should really do a full run with this class before you continue working on it

Oh yeah, Diver Job has a stun immunity talent too. That's why I thought it'd be fine.
Except theirs is tier 2 and mine is tier 4 so I added a small damage resistance boost.
Does seem OP in tandem with all the other durability perks though.
While Diver has a 400% melee damage boost against large monsters, they're also a lot squishier than a Blade. Getting oneshot against a latcher in a combat diving suit.
Taking that into account, Blade definitely needs Tankiness nerfs.
Removing some of the buffs on the HF Blades should be fine, though. Afterall the Sledgehammer from Diver Job is cheaper yet deals 50 Blunt damage haha.
(it can even one shot a blade. fun weapon.)
Charge Attack is actually just a reskinned "Buccaneer" talent that was originally Vanilla. Renegade job uses it as well. So maybe I should just switch Low Stance's mechanics around.

Just because other job mods are overpowered doesn't mean you should make yours be too
Diver is a horrible example of a balanced mod, no offense to the creator.

Well, the new perks are a lot better, but now the wandering stranger problem is back again in the form of low stance, and even more attack speed than last time, bumping that down 10 to 15% would make it a little better

You came here, and told me my mod was trash straight to my face.
I was super angry at the time, but yet I held it in and tried to take it positively.
I read your whole essay, then did my best to make changes after I saw the flaws you gave me.
I even tried to thank you by adding High Frequency Blades and Murasama, since you clearly love metal gear rising revengeance.
You told me my mod had no generic talents, so I went and made some myself. Added buffs for the whole crew.
You said this or that was badly overpowered, so I tried nerfing it.
I did everything for you, then you just kept complaining. It wasn't even criticism anymore with some of the things you wrote in the comments. Like you just purely hated this mod for the sake of hating it. You even said it yourself, why people use such a retarded mod up above.
You wrote so many things about hating the mod, yet you never even gave me a "Thank You." when I tried to follow your essay here, and fix it.
I've been trying to be that wholesome mod author that listens then takes it positively and tries to fix it, but all of this and you weren't even using my mod anyway.
I saw you had a blade job red or something, and I didn't really care since everyone deserves the right to have his own version of a mod.
But when you change the name to literally something else, like "Samurai Class" its just straight up insulting Blade Job at that point. If you had built this "new mod" from the ground up, I wouldn't have even cared, but its practically a clone that was recolored with some random values.
You might has well take Elon Musk, color him brown and call him Nole Ksum.
Elon Musk would obviously look at this clone, and go "What the hell?"
He'd think it was something out to get him, or end him. Its no longer a prank or a joke when someone straight up clones you with another name.
I cut off connection to you because I got tired of it. Hours of free modding work to fix things for some guy who wasn't even grateful, and since he didn't even use the mod anymore, I felt it was all pointless anyway.
I even went out to eat to a family dinner, and was still thinking how to please you.
Then when I got home, I realized it wasn't gonna work anyway, and that it was getting in the way of my private life.
So I blocked you, and ended it there.
Modding is free work, I don't want to become a saint who burns his own life and even his family for someone else who barely even appreciates him. Its ridiculously toxic, and just eats away at your mentality. Done it before with a different mod under a different name. I don't want that ever again.
To be slaving away for hours on end just to satisfy someone else's gameplay, at the cost of my life.
I have 200 hours of game time on this game. 200 Hours.
And I have not even completed it once, yet.
Do you know why?

Because I released Blade Job.
I ended up spending literal hours testing it to make sure it worked, and figuring out new mechanics for using melee, and even taking vanilla talents and spending tons of time trying to figure out how to implement it as a melee talent.
Then I go try it and its broken.
I curse and ask why is this not working?
Heck, I don't even know any coding when all of this started. Let alone barotrauma coding.
I legit went in, flatfaced and blank as a sheet of paper, and smashed my head into the wall until I made a Job mod that worked.
I've recently realized after all this time, that I barely even touched multiplayer, and that when I played multiplayer I was completely lost despite my huge playtime. People were running around growing plants, or doing some other alien stuff to me.
I ended up literally existing. Just existing for the entire match.
It was boring, and I started to realize that I didn't even love that game that much.
I'm a ducking saint, okay? I was so stupid that I spent 200 hours on a game I didn't even like just to program some mod for a game, whose game coding language I had never even seen before.
Legit the only thing that kept me here, was updating this mod and trying to make people happy.
Yet the only "Thank You" I ever got from you is floating around in the void where it never existed.
Listen man, I understand we both have views that only come from our point of view.
After all, if you don't stand up for yourself, who will?
I understand that. You probably still hate my mod and me, despite me trying to please you then getting fed up about it. You might just do what you've done before, and not even reconcile, but go "Oh, then don't be a ducking saint, and waste so much time on a game you didn't even ducking love, you idiot."
Maybe you wouldn't say something like that, but in my mind, this is what it has become to me.
That's just how bad it is now.

I'm sorry I never made you happy. Clearly that means I was a bad mod author.
I really did try to make everyone happy though, trying to stay positive and not become those other mod authors that just go: "D*ck you! Deal with it, nerd!"
Though in the end, I guess I got fed up with your constant naggings about how trashy my mod is, and I realized it was eating away at my life. Nobody should have that experience for something that is free.
From my point of view, Modding is incredibly toxic, and nobody will appreciate you no matter how much you try. They will even come and complain about you spending hours for their fun time.

I tried to make you happy, but I couldn't, so I gave up.
I'm no superman. I can't slave away like that.
I was fine with you having your own Blade Job mod, since it honors the legacy.
But then you went and created "Samurai Class" which was just a direct insult, and it finally blew the fuse.
Think about it this way: you weren't even honoring "Blade Job" anymore, and just straight up went and changed its clan from "Oda Nobunaga" to "Akechi" practically taking the same samurai and ripping his past out of him, sending him to kill his former lord.
I gave up on all of this, realized that all of this was a bad Idea, a bad dream where some guy showed up, insulted me and provided criticism, then I slaved away trying to make him happy, when he didn't even appreciate it. I definitely got fed up and quit after a while, since who wouldn't quit such conditions? Who wouldn't block their former "Boss" and never talk to him again after being hurt so badly?

I'm completely fine with someone honoring the legacy, and keeping their version of the mod as "Blade Job 2" or "Blade Job Rehashed."
Like playable mudraptor 2 and 3.
But please, don't take my own mod and turn it against me like that, ever again.
Its incredibly painful, like seeing your own child indoctrinated by someone then sent to kill you.
Okay, maybe a little overboard there, but it was pretty painful to see the guy I tried to please never say thank you, then when I blocked him, he tried to end me.
Its like some sick movie film where people get into your life, cause a mess, and you try to appease them by changing things, but then when you try to escape and leave it behind by cutting off all communication when you realize its just slave work with no thank you, they try to come and kill you.

Maybe this is all just a bad communication connection or something from both sides, since we're talking in text and can't even read each others' emotions properly here.
Regardless, If you enjoyed my mod, I'm glad I did something to make you happy.
If not, then I'm sorry I wasn't the mod author you were looking for. I'm human, not superman.
I have insecurities just like everyone else, and feel anger and sadness, yet I try to suppress it when facing players that just want to have a good time. Why do any of this as a hobby or play a game if you aren't having fun, right?

Sorry if I was a bastard in your story, you were one in mine too.
But all in all, you aren't my enemy. You're just the guy who woke me up and made me want to run away. But then I got angry when you tried to kill my mod afterwards with a mod that didn't honor the legacy. I felt mad that 200 hours of work was being so disrespected and attacked.
When I think about it, you were just another player who wanted to love my mod.
So for that, I thank you for at least wanting to love my mod.
Unlike those guys who said "more weeb dhit, ugh." or "great, more weeb trash."
Whose comments were deleted, and blocked, of course.
This is goodbye, now. You're probably still very angry, and I was too. But after talking with my family, and thinking about it at school, I realized that in the end we're all human.
I'm not perfect, and neither are you. There is no such thing as superman in this world, and you were probably just someone who woke me up from that illusion. The illusion that I was superman, and that I could fix things infinitely, when I wasn't. I was just another human.

I got so caught up in trying to make the mod better fit my views, I forgot there was a man behind it with feelings, genuinely trying to appease his fanbase
I was so consumed by my desire to create, I forgot about what I was about to destroy
I'm terribly sorry for all of this
I shouldn't have been so harsh, I feel like a cretin
You were just trying to appease your fans and I was tearing those dreams down and spitting on the ruins
I should've realized how much I was hurting other people
I should've realized nothing will be perfect fresh out of the oven
The first schematic for anything, really, is bound to be messy, nothing starts flawless
I should've realized that
I should've waited, planned, thought about what I was doing before I did it, I was too busy focusing on the end goal, I couldn't see the steps I had to take
When I changed the name of the mod, I thought I was doing it to stop feeling like I'm leeching off of this poor developer, when I was really just insulting the good name of the mod
While it is flawed, and not everything is perfect, you had good intentions, tried your best, and actually worked with your audience
I shouldn't have taken these gifts and thrown them in the dirt
You've really opened my eyes to just how horrible I've been
I'm truly sorry for this rollercoaster I've put you through
You shouldn't give up on mod design just because of one bad experience, you're really talented, and I think your work could go a long way...

I probably sound like a complete jackass for this next line, but
After all this, I'm probably not the best candidate, and I would understand if you didn't trust me at all, but if you're setting the torch down, I wish I could be the one to pick it back up, but that's probably just an impossible dream of mine, either way, I'm going to do what I should've done from the start

Do I have your permission to keep the flame alive, prevent it from dying out, carry on your legacy, will you allow me to revive, create, and publish Blade Job Reborn
