Hey thanks for the feedback! We've been planning to completely rework the frontier wars for awhile. We've made a system where you have a generalised "relations" level with all the indigenous tribes based on various factors, which would influence several events and outcomes to the frontier wars. We also want to make them playable as well, though how actually viable they would be to play could be a different matter lol.
Part of the reason that rework has been taking awhile is that the person working on it has taken a break from modding the game and others in our team have our own particular passions within the mod and this is all an unpaid hobby for us so its really whenever we have the time and want to spend our free time on modding.
I'll try pick up the frontier wars, though I do have some other goals I want to get done first. I've been kind of waiting to see how the next DLC turns out as it will involve greater diplomatic involvement with vassals and foreign investment, which I see as being a major part of alternative history routes for frontier war outcomes.
At the moment, you're right, the indigenous tags don't revolt and attack when angry like the tribes in Africa. I'm not sure why that's the case exactly, but that would also come with its own problems. A year or so of diplomatic play phases and waiting for warscore to formally annex land is odd and restrictive gameplay and also not really how colonisation happened in Australia. I'm thinking that with a frontier wars rework, there could be some events to initiate a war or some events that result in the outright annexation of some indigenous tags depending on different factors.
As for them fighting each other - im not sure exactly how to influence this. I don't think even the vanilla decentralised tags in Africa fight each other? Its something I'll look in to.
Content regarding Papua New Guinea's settlement: I know it was already mentioned in the Steam page, but an event for opting to fully integrate Papua New Guinea or opting for a colonial outpost route could be interesting. Perhaps there could be room for Australia to fully absorb the Island of New Guinea into the Commonwealth.
A route for the integration of Portuguese East Timor in this mod: The annexation proposals in real life were essentially immediately shot down and a product of decolonization. However, perhaps a journal entry of Australia controlling a ring of islands to defend the mainland could be considered.
Is there a journal entry for including Fiji in the federation, as that was proposed in real life?
I know this is a stretch, but later down the line, an inclusion of the "New Australia" colony in Paraguay as a journal entry is an interesting yet mostly unknown chapter in Australia's history. I'm not sure what features would be implemented for it, but a stretch could be a permanent modifier for relations with Paraguay or, for wacky alternate history's sake, an independent "Australian Paraguay."
This mod seems very cool and well-made for Australia, which too often gets little love in Paradox games. Keep up the good work! :)
regarding Fiji: currently at least, we ignore them
2) If a great power declare war to you, britain doesnt abandon you in the same time.
3) Make that paysans doesnt leave the second they dont have a job
4) Make that you can gain more independance from britain when you form Australia
5) pirates would be cool to fight with
6) historical events about the genocides that happened.
here are a couple of suggestions for journal entries:
- a short journal entry about colonel light's selection of capital of South Australia, ongoing at the start of the game.
- for SA and WA there could be the possibility of changing from a free colony to a penal colony (as WA did IRL), and in the inverse the cessation of sending convicts to the penal colonies
- for frontier wars, there could be instances of rumours of violence (e.g. a rumoured massacre of settlers/aboriginals that can't actually be confirmed to have happened, or where the parties actually involved are unclear), that can be escalated or de-escalated by the player
- a journal entry about the afghan cameleers (and later the ghan train line) surveying the interior of Australia
- questions over the control over the northern territory with SA, QLD, or WA potentially gaining the territories already colonised
1. Will consider that, but generally nothing would feel like it has teeth without being very ahistorical. The game does not represent small raiding well.
2. Generally they dont? I'm not really keen on making general changes to AI and this actually has historical precedent lol in ww2 Churchill told Australia to just evacuate to its southern half and that the British will come help later
3. Thats another critique of the game itself. Pops move around to get jobs, idk what you expect
4. You do. You become a "dominion".
Will consider 5 and regarding 6 theres already some, but yeah we will be expanding on that in the future.
South Australia was proclaimed in Holdfast Bay, but yeah I wouldn't reduce SA further than it is for gameplay reasons, its already a tough start.
Cities cant be changed dynamically, so I dont know what outcome the journal could really have. Love your other suggestions, will keep a note of them when have finished a couple other projects being worked on. There is already meant to be an event where NT can get transferred to SA which by accident stopped triggering, but it should be working on next update.
Keep up the excellent work, mate!
Is there a way to make each of the states releasable? Rather than only formed through the event?
