Your Only Move Is HUSTLE

nakmuay tips thread
if you're seeing this to find counterplay. nuh-uh. no you aren't. stop looking at this thread immediately. i'm not sugarcoating it.
  • you are incredibly strong against DI that attempts to cross you up as you have virtually no moves that have committal distance. most of your moves keep enemies grounded for the first handful of hits in a string unless you launch them yourself. watch for this tactic and use it to your advantage.

if your opponent DI's away, use kao trong to catch up. this is less effective as the combo continues, but covers distance and leaves enough hitstun for a light attack followup.

as long as you hit meaty, you will always have enough hitstun to get a dash on opponents that attempt to break off.

  • if you're unsure how to land aerial's close to the ground, tiger's leap is at worse a reset to neutral - but is a launcher if the DI is right. it comes out frame 1, low damage but a reliable throw that has priority over everything except throw teching.

use it if your opponent is using DI to ground again, as you can go for another immediate mixup in close range. be wary that other aerials can also lead to restand - like te khao kot at low height. aerial te khao trong can also be used for a meaty floorbounce at proper spacings.

one extra thing: kick air is a full jump in terms of frame data, so be aware of how many frames you may have available.

  • lion's roar is perfectly synced to hit on the endlag of a burst. you can also use klap sok to dodge a close range burst with +8 endlag.

  • te kot is your universal mid that is fast enough on wind up to go neutral or win most clashes. klap sok is a high, but is more used to juke certain ranges like COMMAND: GRAB and other longer pokes. mat trong is used to overpower certain moves like KICK USER. kao trong is a low that comes out frame 3 and gives you lowered friction, which allows you to win every counterhit option against cowboy when spaced correctly, even throw.

it should be noted that your ability to either clash or straight up power through moves is incredibly strong - there's almost zero situations where you can't counterhit in okizeme (except impale, which te khao tumbles cowboy back to neutral - perhaps i missed some). all of them will work, but i listed the most consistent ones.

rely on this ability only with your own confidence, of course. parrying still gives you more than enough frames to put damage in.

  • elephant's foot is a risky hyperarmor option that works as a self-buff. you are given 10 full, actionable frames of armor at the cost of a 16 frame windup. this actually gives you enough time to apply its buffs after a meaty hit like mat trong and still have 9 active frames where both of you are actionable.

useful for frame-trapping or eating a projectile you otherwise would need to block first in order to take priority in clashing. you probably will not use it too often, but it certainly makes otherwise more difficult approaches much easier. try it out!

This is awesome, I honestly had no idea how to weave elephant's foot into the mix as it felt a lil bit out of place, but now i'll see what opportunities I'll be able to use it for

any tips on how to land the second half of topple the general?

Stewert you mean hitting it without the first hit? Its a little tough to space it but you can usually do it, especially if the opponent is moving upwards
