Guide to helping the mod by adding new province names
Since the mod managed to reach the front page (which I cannot thank you guys enough for!) I thought it'd be nice for you guys to have a guide to contributing readily.

To get started with contributing, you're gonna need to do the following:
1. Launch a brand new, non-Ironman campaign with the mod enabled as a country with a culture you'd like to help with and open the console. If you don't know how, this handy guide should have you covered![eu4cheats.com]

2. In the console, copy and paste the following: event DPNDebug.AnnexTheWorld

3. In the prompt that appears, select wherever you'd like to start in. Do keep in mind it may take your PC a few minutes to process it! It will cede you all provinces in whatever area you chose and change them to your culture.

4. Once you're done with that part, copy and paste the following into the console: debug_mode
Now, when you hover over provinces, it shows you their ID! This is the important part. Now, start looking at those provinces you got from the AnnexTheWorld event and find the ones that aren't translated yet.

5. Once you've scoped out some provinces that need translating, open a text file (using Notepad or any app of your choice) and begin typing.

If the language you're translating to uses special characters, make sure to check this link to see if they work! Unsupported ones will break the mod.[pastebin.com]

Here's an example of the format you should be using, taken from the Aragonese province translations:
1800 = "Briviesca"
1809 = "Fuerte de Arana"
1813 = "Fuerte Pedral"
1815 = "Pacein"
1816 = "Peqín"
1817 = "Ciudad de Nan"

Every entry should be in its own line, as demonstrated there. The numbers are the province IDs, and the text in the quotation marks is the new, translated name.

Finally, when you're satisfied with what you've got, copy the contents of your text file and upload it to a website like Pastebin.[pastebin.com]. Once it's uploaded, copy the link and send it on either this thread or the mod's comments. It will be added to the mod, and if you've translated a lot of provinces, you will be mentioned as a contributor!

Much love ^^

Hello! I did some province translations for Czech culture, here's the pastebin link: https://pastebin.com/1wNG8ZYW
Tho when I tried to check if it works I had some problems with a few :(
for now I could only do Europe + Levant, Mashriq, Caucasia, Iran and former Mamluk lands but I'd love to expand it in future, is it okay?

Thank you so much for translating! I'll be adding these names to the next update.

Could you tell me what these issues were (mod-related?)? It might help in the future if someone comes across the same issue!

I don't think they were mod-related, just few provinces showed up as "Unreadable String" rather than what I put in " ", do you know what it might be?

Also, I'd love to do as much as possible of the world, but some provinces don't have a translation or are basically miniscule settlements i.e. Uzbek, Nogai... lands

By the way, fantastic job with the province names, I spent good 30 minutes just admiring them 🤣👍

(Minor disclaimer, on province 156 (Temešvár or Timisoara/Temes) i forgot to add " " which I noticed just now)

It's because EU4 unfortunately doesn't support some special characters you included in some names (ř, ž, etc.). I'll have to remove the diacritics from them for now, but I'm working on making a patch for the EU4 font that adds support for those and some others. I'll update the thread to clarify. Thanks!

Glad to hear that! I'll check on more provinces to translate and keep you updated, if that's okay!

It took me way too long to figure tihs out LOL but you missed a quotation mark at 4370. I've fixed this & added your translations to the mod. Thanks again for contributing!

Hello! I did some translating for the Kurdish culture, here is the link: https://pastebin.com/2xFwV0pn
For now I only translated Provinces which have historical Kurdish names, in order to expand the translation in the future I need to do some more research on how to phonetically transcribe foreign names to Kurdish or search for more historical names of provinces.
I hope it is to your liking.

Hello
I did an update of Czech provinces for you: https://pastebin.com/FUHMU7DF
It's a new pastebin link since I had to make an acc to edit it, i corrected some mistakes and changed some translations i.e. Sültanónü to Eskisehir as the former is a Seljuk term and oftentimes there's basically no direct translation, and added more African provinces (North, Egypt, South) and some in China and Russia

Do you mind if I add you so i can keep you updated? I'd like to do New World in the future aswell as tell you about changes without spamming ur discussion section (Also lmk if there's any problem sometimes finding the translations or localizations can get tiring)

What AI did you use to translate the names?
poltergeist481 26 Sep, 2023 @ 8:32pm
Many South American uncolonized provinces still have Spanish names. 5 years ago I created this nameset for the old Rosetta mod which replaced them with the native names:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/vn9ckcas1ifgw3hgrvhr2/New-World-Provinces.xlsx?rlkey=ey6arg9w0h370a7k3bpjzc2x0&dl=0

The problem is, being 5 years old, many of the provinces may be innacurate now. I'm currently in the process of revamping all the New World native names as well as finding better English ones. Only 3 regions have been done thus far, that you can see on the file. Once it's done, I'll send you the entire code.
