AI Switch System How To's - Please Read
Since my Diamondback AI Battlefield map, I have included a control switch system used to enable/disable the AI spawning. It functions nearly identically to Diamondback’s, with the addition of what I like to call “Quick Response” switches. These new buttons allow players to instantly spawn in a group of reinforcements, which are placed near the corresponding faction’s base. So, if your allies (or enemies) have been defeated and you don’t feel like waiting for a dropship, just press one of these buttons to instantly create some new AI! Read below for more info on these special switches, plus the controllers for each dropship and AI vehicle.
  • A solid and intermittent flashing GREEN switch indicates the squad is disabled and ready for activation.

  • A solid YELLOW switch indicates the squad is enabled and in use.

**A warning before we proceed: Please be careful with all of these new controls you now have. The AI’s engine, and Halo 3’s game engine can be easily overstressed when too many AI are alive and present on map at once. I do not recommend having all squads enabled, plus using the QRF switches simultaneously. Too many AI on map can lead to intelligence loss, and game stability issues. Proceed with caution.**

So what are these new fast response switches anyways?

After the starting squads have been defeated, you are free to use these to call back these troops if needed. Press it once, and it turns to yellow. Your corresponding AI squad should now spawn in. Please do not press the switch again after the switch becomes yellow. The button will automatically revert to green once all members of the squad have been eliminated. At this time, you are now free to use the switch again. These quick response buttons will always be located on the base exterior. Manually reverting the switch to green can lead to instability with the system/code.

UNSC Regular Switches Layout:

Inside the UNSC base on the main level, you should see a total of 3 switches. Two of them are active by default (yellow), and one is awaiting activation (green). These are your infantry drop controllers for the UNSC. On the lowest level, there are 4 switches. These control the UNSC vehicle drops.

So, when facing toward the front of the base, upper level:

1. Marine Pelican Drop Control - Rear Left Central Room
2. AI Spartan Controller - Front Left Central Room
3. ODST Pelican Drop Control - Rear Right Central Room

*Marines and ODST’s are enabled by default. Spartans default to off.*

When dropping down to the basement of the UNSC base, you’ll find the 4 UNSC vehicle control buttons on the 45 degree angle pillars. Again, when facing the front of the UNSC base:

1. Hornet Air support controller - Front Left
2. Mongoose controller - Front Right
3. Warthog Controller - Rear Right
4. Scorpion Pelican Drop - Rear Left

*Warthog and Scorpion reinforcements are enabled by default, the Goose and Hornet are disabled by default.*

UNSC QR Controller(s):

On the exterior, right side of the UNSC base (when facing the middle of the map), you will find one green switch. This will call back the initial marines placed at the beginning of the match if you desire. Press the button to turn it yellow, and you will see your marines spawn. It will automatically turn green once they have been eliminated. At this time, you are free to call them back again if you wish.

Covenant Regular Switch Layout:

In a near identical setup to the UNSC switches, the Covenant have their own inside their base as well. You will find 4 switches inside the Covenant base middle floor, and an additional 4 switches on the lowest floor. Just like before, the middle floor switches control mainly infantry deployments, and the lower floor switches control mainly vehicle deployments. So returning to the middle level, when facing the front of the base:

1. Light Infantry Phantom Drop - Rear Right Central Room
2. Hunter Pair Spawning - Front Left Central Room
3. Drone / Bonus Scout Phantom Drop - Rear Left Central Room
4. Brute Phantom Drop - Next to the rear door, heading out back of the base.

*Light Infantry, Drones, and Brutes are enabled by default. Hunters default to off.*

Next, when dropping down to the lowest level of the Covenant base, you will find 4 switches in identical positions as the UNSC vehicle controllers. These run the Covenant’s vehicles. So when facing towards the center of the map:

1. Banshee air support controller - Front Left
2. Scout spawn controller - Front Right
3. Prowler spawn controller - Rear Left
4. Wraith spawn controller - Rear Right

*The Banshee defaults to OFF.*

Covenant QR Controller(s):

On the exterior of the Covenant base, there are 2 controllers to summon back the initial brute squad, as well as the initial light infantry squad. When facing the middle of the map:

Brute Initial Squad - Base Exterior towards rear, left side.
Light Covenant Initial Squad - Base Exterior towards rear, right side.

Press the button to turn it yellow (active), and you will see your corresponding forces spawn. It will automatically turn green (ready to make more) once they have been eliminated. At this time, you are free to call them back again if you wish.

Bonus Sentinel Faction Spawning:

Included in this map are a bonus optional group of Sentinels that will roam around the map in search of any targets they come across. The control switch to activate/deactivate their spawning is located at the map’s center, on a rock pillar. This switch functions like the Regular UNSC / Covenant controllers.

*Sentinels are disabled by default.*

Bonus “Trash Collector” Button:

In my previous H3 maps, you will see the arena slowly get covered in unused equipment and grenades over time. It will begin to really pile up! The only way to clean these items up was to start another round and lose all of your deployed AI. This button allows you to clean up the arena, without deleting all the AI with a new round start. This switch is located beyond the Overshield cave, towards the middle of the map, behind a rock wall.

To use it properly, press the switch to turn it YELLOW. Continue looking at it for a few seconds until it automatically turns GREEN. The garbage cleanup is now complete and you can walk away. The reason you should not look away during this time is due to the fact Halo 3 does not recycle anything that is too close to a player, or in view being looked at by the player. Keeping your back to the map allows for a thorough, effective clean up.

Enjoy the new systems and let me know any thoughts, questions, or concerns below or in the comments section!
