Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

SNES Reboot

There is something the matter with changing armor
The title says it, when purchased it disappears into a void and is only "seeable" in the sell menu. Not in stash, not in inv, and the armor is locked on the non-Jake character model which makes no sense. Please fix this bug so I do not have to walk around with an AC of 1.

Thanks!

Screenshot your inventory and/or stash page(s).

So you made a new character, not using either of the "Jake" models... Correct? There's no reason for the armor slot to be locked... There's only one customized piece of armor (Jake's duster in the first alley) in the entire game, and nothing with the Unique tag, which would give it the locked symbol.

The bug has nothing to do with any armor item, nor vendor... It's far more likely to be a corruption in your core files. Follow HBS' instructions for verfiying the game files, and perhaps restart your current scene.

It's the default jake character but not the jake model, he has a lock icon over his armor and any armor purchased is only findable when trying to sell. One moment...

Here is a link to the images that show it in the sell menu but not in the inventory and with a lock over the armor icon https://imgur.com/a/ts2rYKN

Also I have the zip gun because the alleyway gunfight never happened, the orc in the alley stands alone and staring at a dumpster with no way to interact with him

Huh... Something very strange is going on then... That parts been played through a zillion times without issues...

I saw your profile earlier today (when you sent the friend request, before it was set to private) and saw playtime on dragonfall, so that tells me you are using the steam version... So I know you are on the right version at least.

What do you remember about your first trip to the alley? Did you go there the first chance you had? Did you explore a bit first? Perhaps something incorrectly set the alley clear flag...

Ok... After some trial and error I can't simulate the armor lock but I can simulate the Alley ork being "stuck".

Did you see this on entering the alley and walking closer to the Ork and the Thug?

If I complete that conversation, and trigger the combat, and then run away and load a new map the ork gets stuck... I should be able to fix that tomorrow or Monday. (Its almost 2AM so I can't tonight)

The armor consistently worked fine for me though... so my best guess is try Dave's suggestion of verifying the game files...

Dave, is there a debug command which could be used to unlock the armor so Maple doesn't have to restart?

The screenshot you provided didn't happen in the alley, I entered it and he was already staring at the dumpster. I'll try rechecking the files. I'd like to continue streaming this today, so if there is some kind of debug option that would be great!

No luck on file verify, no luck on restarting level =/

Also, on the "resync shops" menu, there is no way to back out of it. I clicked on it to see what it was for and now I'm forced to pick that either Jester or Drake are dead D:

Apparently I clicked on something accidentally, and deleted a post. My bad!

To the best of my knowledge, there is no debugger console script to unlock your armor.

I restarted and the alleyway scene worked and subsequently the armor now works, it might be linked? The only other issues I've run into are the not backing out of a menu problem so far. As a big fan of the SNES game I have to say this is put together really well, the stage layouts are super exact for the most part and you guys have done an excellent job. The music thing is a big problem, it's too bad there's no way to fix it as the OST was as much part of the charm of that game as the characters.

I'd love to see this fully completed and with all the kinks worked out, if you're in contact with HBS at all, a finished version of this would make an excellent DLC that I'd be happy to throw some money at. Maybe they could help with the music problem too if they wanted to get involved.

Thanks for the responses!

There are workarounds for the music, but they all require every single user to modify their existing game files... The sheer number of "why doesn't this work?" And the standard answer of "download the linked and required prop pack, as it says 2 different times in the description." leads me to believe that it's far too much effort to try.

Easiest solution is to mute the music, and play with your favorite version of the OST or remaster in the background.

Sounds like the glitch worked itself out, which is nice... Since that one sounded like an engine error, rather than a problem here. I'd almost be willing to bet that the verifying files and restart are what fixed it. (Verifying without the restart will load the corrupted version of the scene, not a clean fresh copy.)

Given how often it comes up, I dont think it would not be worth the effort to change the music. Most people interested in this have come here for nostalgia and Im sure you could find an artist who would be more than happy to do arrangements of the old tracks and if you couldn't, I could. If you decide to and want a hand with it let me know!

I can't speak for my co-authors, and certainly not for the project lead Ledier... so these views are my own.

But as far as I am personally concerned, it's a hard pass on ANY form of music alteration on my end. You can modify your own game files if you choose. However, I won't be providing any support or explanations into how to do it... or how to undo it. Remember any of those changes will affect the core games, and any other UGC you have as well.

I didn't ask you for a how to nor did I expect one, I'm merely making suggestions to this team about how to make this project more faithful to the ideal of an actual remake. Whether or not you "like" the idea isn't my concern, the outcome of the project is a more important consideration.

Thanks!
