The first thing I got stuck on (or would be) is finding the door for the #6 key.
It would be nice, having numbers on those apartment doors, so it would strike better to try to touch them locked doors.
(Normally from Dragonfall run, what is locked that is locked until it is decked or whatever, so it makes the mindset ignoring stuff with the the locked icon.)
Honestly, I didn't even remember the fox lady in Dragonfall!
They are two different people, no relation that I know of in the lore.
You will get the chance to know Kitsune better once you get Downtown. ;)
They are distinctly different characters. Goldfish is a Native American (Human) Shaman from the California Free State. Kitsune is a fox shapeshifter. In shadowrun lore, shapeshifters are actually animals who can take human form, so she is actually a magical fox (who goes on to be in a rock band in the future)
That makes sense, having the numbers be prominent on the doors... Honestly I have no idea why it never occurred to us to do so.
One of the features I have been wanting to add is utilizing the quest system to give people a helping hand if they get stuck. It would be something you could turn on or off with the click of a button... But I haven't had the time needed for it :(
So Far i managed the Caryard, made enough money to just bride the King but was more curious about the Queen alternative and "Breaking Bad" Granny made me chuckle; I was not expecting cleaning a kitchen that big. XD
The Clockwork inside Jack's brains forced me to explore more (that and the youtube SNES walkthrough showing me the way);
My first panic run was running to the retired street doc in the Tenth Bar, ut oh boy, what a dead end.
After all I just noticed how the guys around easily one shots me, so I assume I have to level up more or meanwhile look somewhere else.
It is in the side-quest when you help your gun dealer to get back his stolen shipping goods. The Goldfish encouter in the hub felt like lil chat without any purpose, so guess I was hoping to find a relation in it. (Come on, both girls are doing a rock band.)
Yes, I was actually thinking about giving better hints somehow.
The NES dialogues are rough and blunt, but that is how they managed the limited data space and what makes the nostalgia charm.
I don't wish changing the genuine dialogue, but maybe it would be helpful putting some kind of more described hints, maybe something simple like an additional dialogue option in brackets or in other mean to show: this is not the genuine option, but the editor's asterisk.
And if you are still running around like your head is going to explode, go North while Downtown!
Question: Now that you've gotten SNES Reboot into Dragonfall, how is the effort to making Kitsune where you can upgrade her going?
First suggestion: Thinking with Dragonfall's Crew "leveling" tool it should be achievable. Make the trigger where she goes from paid runner to a constant companion the point where you start "leveling" Kitsune. Future leveling as spell categories open to the player. (to be play tested because at some point IF I remember more than one category could be opened at one time later in the game) depending on the number of levels you want to allow her. After some consideration points in the story where she levels up could be: opening all the spell options, completing Drake Tower, the Dark Blade Club, learning the Trickster spirit's true name.
Second suggestion: Related to the first; since Dragonfall does not allow for players to adjust the armor of the runners they hire make adjustments in armor worn a part of the "background" leveling. ie. at first leveling of Kitsune switch her armor to the Armor 4 Urban Mystic Robes, also being a magical creature start her chi magic to 2 for the "innate" killing hands and magic defense spells to represent that magical creature flavor and unarmed combat to a minimum of 1 so she can use spiked knuckles to do bleeding damage as if using her "natural" claws. Maybe as a later Armor adjustment an armor 6 Totem Coat or one of the Salish armors.
Third suggestion: Related to the second; IF needing the two paths for Kitsune to possibly follow consider Spiritual Guardian where she makes use of more Spells and Chi, or Girl of the Sixth World where she starts loosing her magical abilities becoming a Decker / Rigger. ( though keep the cyberware she chooses to just datajack and alpha ware cybereye to keep the max magic loss to one spell slot also she'd start with the datajack which wouldn't cause too much problems for her animal side of her life and stop with the eye because it does affect the animal side of her life as in uncomfortable replacements that now see less of the astral in her animal form UNLESS she decides to become more mundane and leave her animal life behind ) Or something along those lines. OR think along the lines of Gaichu in HK a more natural animal abilities vs. modern combat medic like Glory only with spells, chi, and medical gear. Then again Gobet might be a better model to follow since Kitsune should be a Shaman of Dog too since Dog sent her to help "Jake" at the beginning when "Jake" was gunned down.
Fourth suggestion: Since you have made the ability to check accumulated Karma and speaking to Kitsune a menu on clicking on "Jake" add a PDA or PS, pocket secretary, tab where you can keep a running journal of what goals "Jake" has accomplished and working towards.
Fifth suggestion: Related to third; Create a Dog Totem template. Use the Icon image of Bear and then decide what benefits he would provide being a Protective Totem of Man. Whether it is something specific to the shaman alone Like found with Boar, Leopard, or Fish; and or radial like Bear, Racoon, or Coyote. As without making the template the player really only has the options of Bear or Coyote to represent the vision of Dog. Boar gives +25 HP to the shaman copy the boar totem and give it the icon of Bear or Coyote would be a quick fix to make a Dog Totem. It be a big boost to keeping Kitsune alive and help "Jake" out in the arena. Though you may have to start with copying Dragon Slayer or whichever Dragonfall totem effects only the shaman to start then make the changes to to fit Dog.
With what I have already suggested for Kitsune would be an expenditure of 10 karma points. 6 to spirit summoning for her totem, 3 for her magical animal chi style abilities and 1 close combat to do bleeding damage using spiked knuckles. 15 IF you go with 2 points in close combat and unarmed combat with just killing hands. 17 if she doesn't have any of the 2 points in biology to see her opponent's HP. 20 points would allow for a point in firearms to use all the most basic of firearms and all the above suggestions. Starting her as a level 2 crew and more survivable once she becomes "Jake's" companion and able to reach 6th level using the above "growth" points in the story.
All of this is just food for thought that might help you achieve the desired results you want to expand into the game. Something you may or may not want to add to the game vendors for decking and drones. Like the retired Decker in Caryards or the Rigger you can assist to get out of the Caryards once out or King defeated in the Arena, maybe Granny for both. Again that is just food for thought, possible guide posts to what you're wanting to achieve with the mod now.
I'd like to give a more detailed one, but sadly time is very tight lately :(
First: I would need to look into that... Its been a long time since I investigated that option.
Second: Upgrading armor was definitely something I wanted to incorporate.
Third: Kitsune is a fox first and a human second so it would be rather out of character for her to become more mundane (and directly contradict published lore). There is the additional complication that shifters require alphaware (or higher) cyberware or their buddy completely rejects it.
Fourth: Definitely wanted to add the ability to display quest goals to make the game more user friendly.
Fifth: I did try and do that at some point! I don't remember what ever happened with it...
Decking / Drone Vendors exist! They are just hidden ;)
They get unlocked by talking to the right people.
