VERSION ALPHA 3.0.0+ BUG THREAD
This is a thread for discussing bugs.

The module seems to work as expected in DC, but we have not yet finished verifying that.

If you should encounter any issues, please provide as much detail as possible on how the bug happens.

If it is a particularly strange issue you can send me a logfile using the SRR debug tools.

Windows Instructions
1. After the bug occurs pretty Ctrl F1
2. Expand the "debug" tab which appears and click "dump".
3. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Shadowrun Dragonfall Director's Cut\DumpBox (or wherever you have SRR installed)
4. Send me the newest "LongAnalysis" file. Either share it through google drive, dropbox, or some other file sharing service.

Also be advised that I may edit your post with updates to the issues you raise. This will make it easier for me to track. If changes don't actually fix an issue, please make a new post instead of editing your existing one.

If it is anything visual, please make sure to send links to screenshots.

Thanks in advance.

First some relevanat information:

I am running the linux version of Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall Directors Cut. I have installed SNES Reboot Alpha by subscribing to it on the Steam Workshop for both versions of the game. Within the two respective games SNES Reboot Alpha is present (Version 3.0.1 Alpha for Directors Cut, and 2.0.5.13 for Shadowrun Returns), but selecting: "New Game" > "SNES Reboot Alpha Version" > "Launch Campaign" > Any of the Character Options > Any Difficulty Setting > Takes you back to the main menu instead of launching the campaign.

If this mod was never intended for use with the linux version of the game, I would be interested in looking into porting it myself. (If someone could point me at the relevant source files. Note: I have no experience modding games, but I do study Computer Science, so I am sure I can figure it out.) Other workshop content that I have tried (like "Cayote's Crusade" and "Shadowrun Unlimited") run just fine on my system, the implication being that this is not a general Workshop content with linux problem.

Possibly some resource, variable, or path is different for the linux version. I have not found a physical location for SNES Reboot Alpha content (or any other workshop content) within the installation folder of either version of the game. Either this content is distrubited in a non intuitive way within the folder, is located somewhere else entirely, or it failed to download properly. If someone could point me at the location of relevant game files for SNES Reboot Alpha (on a windows machine or otherwise) I could start investigating why the game does not launch.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the thorough explanation. My initial thoughts are you are missing the props pack. There is a link to it in the description for the DC version. If you have that, and its up to date, I will need to think more.

That was it. Now I feel stupid for not reading the instructions properly...

Glad that was it. For what its worth that's the most common question we get asked. Trust me, its nothing to feel bad about.

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem yet, but combat outside the Grim Reaper club seems to be severely bugged if any hitmen spawn outside of the player's immediate range of vision. This can be seen most prominently if you enter the map from the north side. Typically, if more than two enemies spawn upon entering the map, two of them will spawn in your immediate field of vision, but the rest will spawn around the corner out of view, and for some reason the game will not log them as being part of the "Enemy Turn" phase of combat. Instead, the "Neutral Turn" phase will fire after you kill them, and it will continue until the game is restarted or quit. I've found a way past this that consists of making a mad dash for the Grim Reaper club, but unfortunately if you have a lot of enemies spawning they actually have a fairly good chance of catching up and killing you depending on how damaged you are. I don't know enough to suggest a complete fix, but it's probably something in the enemy spawning logic for that map that isn't firing properly. It's possibly worth noting that I didn't mess with the enemy spawn rate in the configuration at all before starting the game.

I did notice some strange behavior with spawning out of sight causing trouble. I wasn't sure if it was just me or not. I can adjust the spawn logic to try and help with that. Thanks for letting us know.

yo!

Played alittle and noticed that I kept getting messages that I gained 1 karma in battles and when I go to check I don't have a new karma point was this intentional or what I play on 100% spawn rate just incase that was what was causing the issue.
ledeir  [developer] 6 Oct, 2014 @ 7:37pm
That is a deliberate, if poorly explained at this point, behavior. Like the original, you need to find a bed to sleep in to cash in your karma.
I will copy over the thread that explains that from the old workshop item to this one. I will also add an explanation in the intro scene.
Thanks for reminding me.

The start scene now explains karma gain. I am considering implementing a karma tracker as well. This would be either a constant message on the side of the screen (when you have karma) or a bar at the bottom of the screen (like when a location is described in dragonfall). Thoughts?

Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to update the office block spawning logic yet. Hopefully next update.

Hello,
first of all thank you kindly for the recreation of this masterpiece.

Additionally I have two bugs to report:
At the dog shrine, if I enter and have the requirements for him to appear, go outside and enter again two dogs are available. I accidently got two healing spells this way.

The second bug is in draketower, second floor, "If this is your only option, please let us know."
I got the uniform on the first floor and hacked the terminal. On the second floor I tried to acces the terminal on the left, but were stopped by the guard. So I knocked the guard on the right and got some data. Now I can't use the terminal on the left again.

edit:
I got the same message on the third floor and I hid someones body in tha bathroom. I do not know whom it belonged to, though.

I'll try and look at this tonight. It should be a pretty obvious logic fix. Thanks.

Drake Tower is what I'm currently working on, so its good to have another set of eyes!

The "costume bug" is frustrating... I'll look at the logic some more to try and find out why it is happening then. I was hoping it was just an issue with loading the scene directly but I guess that's not the case.

I am a little puzzled as to the terminal issue you are describing. Let me make sure I understand.
:9mm: You approached the left terminal, the conversation popped up and you were forced out of the room or similar.
:9mm: You went to the other side of the map and dealt with the guard there. Was it a knockout through conversation or through 1 on 1 combat? Or did you kill all the guards on the floor?
:9mm: You went back to the original left hand side terminal and its no longer accessible.

Let me know and I'll look into it!

Hmm... Sounds like something odd is happening there too if you hid a body but don't know whose. I have some ideas but again I need more info.

:9mm: Are NPCs still alive on that floor or did you kill them all? If you killed everyone I think I know how to fix it.
:9mm: What did you do before clicking on the bathroom?
:9mm: The message you refer to, is that the "only option" message again? (just double checking that I am not confused)

Thanks in advance!

Hopefully fixed the problems with Dog, as well as fixed some other related logic.
