Project Zomboid
[B42/B41] Bandits NPC (v2)
Any recommended Settings?
Hi,

i just installed the Mod but haven't started a new game yet. I've read that some people use custom settings to make this Mod more balanced, which is why i wanted to ask if you guys could recommend me optimal settings for it.
Or should i just don't touch anything because it's good the way it is?

Thx :buzzed:

-I play with these settings, the things i dont mention should just stay as default.

Bandits sneak during night deactivated (sneaking bandits are extremely silly and easy to kill). Also they carrying flashlighs off, since makes them easy to spot.

Only 4 bandit waves activated:
From day 1-10 i have desperate citizens in wandering mode, groups of 3 per spawn, chance to spawn 1,0.
Day 2-10 also have psychopaths in raid mode, groups of 3, chance of spawn 0.8.
After day 5-50 i have criminals in random mode, groups of 4, chance of spawn 0.5. 30-40% chance of pistols and rifles, 2 mags for all.
Day 10-100 private militias in wandering mode, groups of 6, chance of spawn 0.8, set pistols and rifles to 80-70% and 4 mags, they will all stop spawning in less than a year but will be a constant threat for your supply runs during that time.
Day 100-1000 criminals in random mode, groups of 8, spawn 0.6, pistols and rifles 80-60% 4 mags, they should be some kind of late-game threat.

-I hope these settings work as expected, i never got to live after day 10 (skill issue, stupidity, some mod updating and breaking my save, etc) so im not sure how much raids you will get per day or week, i hope it works!

You find any good settings?

Ok restored. Sorry for that
I suggest disabling the bandit icon that appears when they spawn, and reducing bandit´s aiming skill a bit. You will end up thinking bandits could attack any moment without you magically knowing their place, and the lack of perfect aim will give you a chance to fight back when attacked by armed people, also it doesnt break immersion.

Have in mind that its risky playing like that but personally find it extra fun. You should add some more waves if you want to have more chances to come across humans now that the spawn chances were balanced by its developer.

In Sandbox settings, the waves are simply named "Wave ..." with the number of each wave from 1-12, you click the one you want to modify or deactivate.

is this in the bandit mod settings like the clans??? or literaly in the vanilla sandbox settings
I've recently added the mod to my dedicated server. I've read the guide but still have a question on suggested settings and spawning rates. Our server runs on 4 hour (IRL) game days. The default spawn rates per hour seem very low, and I'm worried that the player base will not see the content often.

At lower levels that's ok-ish, but for the longer surviving players I want there to be a frequent flow of events to challenge them a little and keep them engaged.

Would raising spawn rates from something like 2.5 to 15 or 20 be too high. My interpretation is that a value of 20 means a 20% chance of a wave spawning per game hour, which is ~10 minutes.

That still doesn't seem like a very high chance. Any advice or correction welcomed.

If you play with 4 hour, then i suggest you multiply the chances by 4. Other thatn that, since days pass that slow you must know that new bandit categories will appear slower too. So it will introduce some monotony to the game since you must wait longer for new bandit clans to arrive.

Hi, can i ask you where i can find Bandit settings on multiplayer server... i dont have these settings at all... i can share my screenshot, but really i dont have these setting in Sandbox on multiplayer
20% chance to see a bandit per hour is equal to 1/5 chance per hour. This means that there's 4/5 chance to not see a bandit.

The probability calculation of seeing one bandit over one 24 hour game day is: 1 - (4/5)^24

Or a 99.53% chance to see at least one bandit per game day when set to 20% chance per game hour.

You generally want to be putting these settings incredibly low. For example, a 2% chance to spawn every hour still gives a 38% chance for a bandit to spawn per 24 hours: 1 - (98/100)^24
