Frendlies won't enter cars with me

I'm using all KI5 cars. Whenever I enter a car with a friendly following me, they run up to the door of the car but they never open the door to enter. They are just stuck in an endless walking loop when next to the car door.

Are the bandits unable to enter non-vanilla cars?
