The raider ai model is the one who will find you and chase you. if you set it to guard they will just make bases or stay in buildings, they will only attack you if you enter the building.
the wanderer is just like a zombie, if they see you, they will attack you. they are just roaming around.
So it is up to you if you choose wanderer or guard ai. cuz if random, it can spawn a raider ai that knows your location and hunts you down.
There is also a thief ai, they loot every things in your base. they know your base. but they won't attack you, only steal stuff, if you attack them, they'll retaliate.
