2. As far as I know, bandits who spawn in as wanderers run around aimlessly, so even if your home is the only one for miles around, they probably won't gravitate to it. That being said there's always a chance they might. Raider bandits - or assault, whatever - if I remember correctly always want you dead, so even if they can't see you, they spawn in and run to where you are to engage.
3. I think they can climb over it. Sorry but I've never checked or seen it, so I can't help you there.
4. The thievery is legitimate. Some bandits can spawn with a "robber" trait, and while I don't know exactly how it works (like when they decide to rob you) I know they do actually enter your base and try to loot and steal. You can disable this behavior in the "Bandits General" sandbox tab.
