FAQ
If your question wasn't listed or you want further assistance, leave a comment here, on the mod page, or join the Discord server[discord.gg] and get in touch with me directly. I try to respond quickly.

Here's a list of frequently asked questions:

What is X item? What do I do with it?

If you have come across an item in the world, like the Old Genetics Vial or Alien Puzzle Cube, you may have found a secret. More information on secrets can be found in the discussion thread on secrets and easter eggs.

I keep getting pellets when I transfer submarines.

This is a bug from the vanilla game I think that removes items from "magazines" when transferring submarines. Materials like iron, steel, scrap, uranium and lead are ammo for the scrap cannon and scrap machine pistol, so their contained ammo gets removed for some reason when transferring submarines. Just drop the items on the ground and they will despawn.

Can you make a version without X feature, or mod with only X feature included?

Unfortunately, a lot of features are intertwined and it is easier to keep them together. It is also a lot of work to maintain and patch a bunch of mods whenever things change or need updating. It is personally more time and effort than I want to put in to break the mod up into a bunch of separate patches that will need updating and compatibility patches.

Can you make a patch for X mod?

Possibly, but some mods are entirely incompatible because they change things in ways that cannot be combined or rectified. Things like mods that add other jobs and talents would be difficult to combine. It is also a lot of work to make and maintain patches between multiple mods when either my mod, the other mod, or the base game are updated and I have to fix a bunch of patches.

Can you add X feature/item?

Possibly, if I feel it is a good fit for the game, and if it is doable in xml, I will consider it, but unfortunately I can't implement everybody's suggestions, make everyone happy, or do everything for other people, even if I wanted to. Ultimately, at the end of the day I try to stick to some core design philosophies and principles for balancing and what to add. I love feedback, ideas and suggestions, so if you have any feel free to leave them (I have a Discord server[discord.gg] with a channel just for suggestions and feedback), but if I don't include your suggestion in the mod, please don't take it personally. I can't include everything.

I ran into a problem or error, what do I do?

If possible, information helps me diagnose the problem, whether it is a mistake on my end of something like a mod compatibility problem. The more information, the better, like mods you're playing with, load order, what the error says, and how to replicate the error. I will do my best to patch and fix anything I can.

I dislike X feature / I think X is unbalanced.

I appreciate and welcome all feedback. Balancing is a constant balancing act (no pun intended). I try to make changes and tweak things often. I don't want to make the game too easy, I do want to keep things engaging and interesting while also being fun and not too weak that they aren't worth engaging with or don't feel rewarding. Again, I have a Discord server[discord.gg] channel for suggestions.

Can I help work on the mod?

Unfortunately I probably do not need and won't be accepting help in the form of coding or anything like that. If you have art assets to contribute, I might use them if I like them or they are fitting, but it's hard to collaborate with others because taking time to explain what to do and delegate work slows down work flow. Also creative differences can be a hurdle when everyone has different ideas of what to do. I already have a few people I consult for testing and balancing. Beyond that, you can just help by leaving suggestions and feedback (Again, I have a Discord server[discord.gg] channel for suggestions).

Is there any sort of wiki for the mod?

No, not currently. This mod adds a ton of content and changes a variety of vanilla content, and the amount of changes and content added is a staggering amount to convey on a platform or wiki. It would be a lot of work and I don't have the time, drive, know-how or resources to make such a wiki without essentially needing to recreate the entire Barotrauma wiki and then some. There is at least a google drive with all the current talents listed.

Can I enable this mod or swap between classic and standard Baroverhaul mid-campaign?

Strictly speaking yes, I believe so, but I wouldn't recommend it. You will almost certainly encounter problems with the talent tree that prevent you from picking new talents. This can be rectified though by using a Mind Wipe to reset your talents.

Why Two Versions, Classic and Standard?

People want to keep just the talent overhaul and might not like the new content. This version will continue to see updates and new content for those who are interested in having more stuff to play with. Ultimately it will have much more content than the classic version.
