for the upcomming alpha animals implementation:
the black ones yould be more combat foccussed like on schoke points
suggested effects:

flame resistance
higher slow for non insectoids and higher speed buff for insectoids compared to the creep one
eating away filth on it asfar as i know its somewhere in the VF a function for it

with that features it would be a good feature for choke points in an insect colony

Thanks for the ideas! Good shout on the filth eating. I will be sure to look into that. If I can't make it a floor thing, I might be able to at least make it a building.

If I can ask, instead of making the default jelly into building material, to improve on compatbility, it could be a good idea to make a recipee for Jelly Bricks, so instead of using Jelly the food to build stuff with, you can use the Jelly to a 1:1 conversion into a building material.

Would it be possible to add integration with Medieval Overhaul's hornet jelly?

Aswell as alpha animals bumble drone jelly

Good shouts. I'll add them to the list. Might be a few days for them though. I wanna get the new floor texture done and make a bug-themed autobong.

I like that idea. I'm not really sure how psyfocus gain and meditatio works, but I'll see what I can do.

I'm trying to BS out what the heck insect jelly actually is and how it's being used as a building material that you can eat. We're clearly using it as a polymer, which means real comparisons are shellac, amber, rubber, silk, and I guess the more obvious example is wax. None of that on its own makes a great material, but they make sense for waxes, lacquer n stuff. So, what about treated wood? I know there's already a treated wood mod but, this is specific to the weird bug stuff. Royal Jelly seems to be fireproof so, that's useful there.

That's not very weird and buggy, I admit. Insectoids 2's chitin presents interesting potential though. A Chitin/Jelly composite material for decent walls? Chitin tiles? You could still give that the Creep functionality by it being still alive, and you can assume there's no tiles blocking access to the living fleshy stuff beneath if you put a building on it.

Other thoughts... a paintable floor would be nice but I do get the theme of each jelly type making that weird. Might work better with the chitin idea or somethin in that vein.

My headcanon for insect jelly, in terms of my mod, is that you can shape it while it's still a jelly, and then cure it into a type of resin. That makes it easy to work with, and quite hard, but also a bit brittle.

Technically due to the way the floors are set up currently, they are paintable by using Dub's Painting mod.

I do have some ideas for more floors, but those'll be pretty far off if I do end up going for them. Floor textures take a long time to do.

I like this headcanon as it mirrors various biological building materials found irl, so as a bug nerd I support this hehe

how about :
if alpha animals is loaded -> a anti mech type mine , only triggers when enemy mechs are near and stuns them, or deals good dmg vs them , but not anything organic, it would costs black jelly

background the balck hive was made as mech hunter killer and so their hive defence would also be highly specialise versus them
