One thing I do know is that the pickets in Mission 01 have a tendency to beach. Why? Good question. I keep messing with their pathing around the fjords but they just want to have a beach party.

One mission 1, aircraft seem to have a hard time landing when RTB. Getting stuck in the ground etc.

Could you send or link me a screenshot of what the planes are doing when they RTB? I can't seem to replicate that. Unless some update made something wonky with the terrain again.

I do wonder if that's what was going on for a few people before? I'll have to test it out later, but I may suggest running it on the release branch to see if that fixes it. Don't know your current mod list so I don't know what that may affect though.

Otherwise hang tight and I'll see what I can find out. You can also skip mission 1 without much consequence.
