Becoming a Name of the Wolf-Divided: Hints and Guide
There are seven tasks involved in the ascension process. You can get hints for all necessary steps if you place And Why Not? card into the Dreaming Verb when it appears. However, they're only hints, and are naturally elusive about what they really mean. Below are each of the steps, first hinted at and then explained.

Mastering the Wolf-Divided's Mysteries
Hint: What this is asking you to do is simple. Don't overthink it.

Explanation: You will need to raise your Edge lore to its highest possible level. You can do this by defeating Enemies, or visiting shrines of the Wolf and slotting in your Edge lore.

Abandon All Hope
Hint: To follow the Wolf, you must reject the idea that life is worth redeeming.

Explanation: You will need to rid yourself of Hope by slotting it in at a Wolf-Divided shrine. It will be replaced by Hopelessness, which you can develop into ANTITHESIS by placing it into a Wolf shrine with an offering three more times: once with Fallen Enemies, once with Fallen Allies, and then once with (A Wound or A Debilitation).

The Sun's Wound
Hint: The Sun was divided, and here it its wound. You, too, must bear a terrible wound.

Explanation: In Dresden, you will find the Side Objective of Rafeleinz Abbey. Complete it to receive the Spear of Agonies. Taking it to a Wolf shrine will allow you to inflict a special wound on yourself: the Vulneration-in-Glory. This is a card you must possess in order to qualify for the Name ascension.

The Key of Days
Hint: There's a Ligeian in the White City, and she has lived there a very long time...

Explanation: Kleidochous, wielder of the Key of Days, can be found by scouting in Vienna. She will agree to come with you to Berlin if you speak to her, but for then on, every time you go through the Ruined Country, you may encounter Marinette and her hunting party. Marinette will attempt to kill you and your Allies so she can seize and devour her sister and you'll need to fightt them off to escape. You can feed Kleidouchos an Ally to mask her presence for a short time while going through the Ruined Country (reduces chance of Marinette appearing from 45% to 15%).

The One Called Exile
Hint: The Exile tortured you for a year at Sobibor, and above all others you hate them the most. The Wolf will not permit you his power unless you can take your revenge upon your hated enemy.

Explanation: The Exile and the Foe are your two Enemy Long in Contemnant, and to kill one of them, you must also kill the other. To challenge either one to a final confrontation, you must gain the Intent to Annihilate card from Sobibor.

Speaking to Kleidouchos about your And Why Not? card will give you a card for That Old Nightmare. You can journey there from any Warzone, leaving behind your Allies and Enemies. There, you must conquer your fear of the Exile by reliving and overcoming your memories of Sobibor. Several unique enemies will be present there, and chief among them will be the Exile, who has an Edge threshold of 100. When you have three Trauma, scouting at Sobibor can reveal special Contemplations that you can develop and use to lower the Exile's threshold by 33. Kill the Exile, and you will receive the Intent to Annihilate card.

Showing your Intent to Annihilate to either the Exile or the Foe when you encounter them will initiate a boss battle you cannot back out of. Once you manage to land a wound on the Edge Long, they will summon their dyad partner to begin attacking you as well. You will need to deal each of them three wounds to slay them both. It goes without saying you should have maxed-out Edge lore, as many weapons as you can carry, some Tools and expendable Supplies, and some of the Lost Techniques unlocked.

NOTE: You can actually fight the Exile and their Foe in Berlin.

You can, however, seek out assistance from an immortal being to help you when the time comes to fight the Exile and their Foe. Your run will randomly assign you either the Iron-Eater or Gyrvaengr, Spear-and-Shield.

If you were assigned the Iron-Eater, you may encounter A Ragged Cossack while scouting at any Warzone. Speak to him, and he will ask you to find a keepsake of his before leaving. This keepsake is the broken sword of his now-deceased dyad partner, and you can find it by scouting at any City in Flames (see the Shrines of the Wolf-Divided section below for info on A City in Flames). The cossack can be randomly encountered while scouting at any warzone after you've collected the broken sword. Turn it in, and you will receive the Marauder's Horn, which will summon the Iron-Eater to your location and can be used three times.

If you were assigned Gyrvaengr, an Enemy Long that begins to attack you may be randomly ambushed by a warrior of the Carapace Cross, delaying their offensive against you an your Allies for an extended time. This can only happen once, but after this, you will receive a Contemplation card about the Carapace Cross who had attacked before. Develop it three times, and you will recive a Moment of Division card. You'll also learn that the Horned Axe is employing a Cross-champion to strike at the Exile and the Foe, hoping to return their Antaian blood to the earth - a purpose you can base an alliance on. Combine A Moment of Division with your completed Contemplation, Night, and a Wolf-Divided's Shadow to receive a special item: Binding-Shell. Using this will summon Gyrvaengr, a mighty soldier of the Carapace Cross, to assist you in battle.

The Warpath
Hint: You're fighting a war. Fight it.

Explanation: Attain at least 14 Retributions by completing 14 Main Objectives.

Berlin
Hint: Go to Berlin.

Explanation: Go to Berlin and complete its Objectives.

Shrines of the Wolf-Divided
Hint: At some point, you may realize that you cannot find a Wolf Shrine at any warzone, no matter how much you scout. You will not find one - but you can make one.

Explanation: If you check the Main Objective of any Warzone, you will see it has the Contemplation aspect. Place it into the Dreaming verb alongside a Wolf-Divided Shadow card, and it will transform into Main Objective: Raze. Completing this Objective will slaughter the locals and throw the city into chaos, but it will give you A City in Flames. This card can be placed into the Travel verb and used as a shrine to upgrade lore and develop ascension progress.
