📌 AETHER – Mod Recommendations

Use this thread to suggest, test, and discuss mods that may complement the AETHER mod collection.
We are prioritizing compatibility, immersion, performance, and thematic cohesion.

✅ Accepted Mods
Mods that have been tested and confirmed compatible, and are now included in AETHER





🔬 In Testing
Mods under consideration. Preliminary testing has shown no issues, but long-term effects are not yet verified.




    🟡 Possibly in the Future
    Mods that are generally compatible and popular but not currently aligned with AETHER’s balance/scope goals.

    • Gigastructural Engineering – Massive content expansion. Should be compatible, but alters game scope significantly. Add at your own discretion.
    • Real Space – System Scale – High potential, but many compatibility concerns. Awaiting additional patches before testing within AETHER.




    ❌ Rejected Mods
    These mods were tested or considered but were excluded due to conflicts, balance-breaking issues, or redundancy.

    • Trait Diversity [4.0+] – Compaitble with the collection however not a fan of Trait bloat. Feel free to add it under Xenobiology mod
    • Any Shipset Mod – Not a fan of shipset bloat, specifically when the AI can't/don't use them. Feel free to add any to your collection but ensure its compatible with NSC.

    Possibly will add it in the future, not the biggest of fans personmally. For now you can just add it and test it but I am dubious on the current compatibility

    Light borders and whiter stars would be a nice addition. Used it personally and it looked great.

    You know I had that originally but I never tried it in combination with beautiful stellaris. I will add it and see if I like it. Thanks for the recommendation

    High potential, but many compatibility concerns. Awaiting additional patches before testing within AETHER.

    Feel free to test it yourself but keep in mind it will require a new start I believe

    @Paulo that was just removed to put the xenobilogy mod in, if you want to include it, simply replace it with the xenobiology (ensure you disable xenobiology). They should actually work together but I am not a big fan of trait bloat, its usually one mod

    Possibly but ACOT definety has some compat issues due to how much it changes and adds. Definety on my radar already

    Technically compatible but I encountered some issues when I was testing it so I disabled it. Place it after NSC in your load order but be warned I did get some weirdness.

    @Nick, Thanks for the info, appreciate it. That was the exact issue I was getting but I believe I tested it before that update as I had already done that in my test load order.

    In which case feel free to add it below ESC Next. I am still half and half on adding it as NSC has its own ship behaviour stuff but to each there own and go to town. (I am not a big fan of unneccessary bloat but am no averse to it either XD )
