how do i absorb items as the rot help
i keep trying to absorb a spear and it just sticks to one of my cysts am i doing something wrong here

If you press "Throw" keybind (X by default) near cyst, you'll attach item to it (Kinda like inventory to have grabbing tentacle free).
To Absorb/Mimic item you need to have at least one additional cyst and then same way you would absorb food but instead press "Map" keybind (Space by default).

Also look at "Switch Cyst Loadout" and "Clear Cyst Loadout" keybinds, they are quite useful.

Does anyone know what absorbing a spear even does? What are the abilities with mimicry I'm so confused!!

Spears just make my cysts spiky.

There is a discussion called "what can difrent items do for the rot and what special stuff can the scavanger craft and what do they do" look there.
