25/8/6 Risky Update for remove stuff material from Cabins craft
Hey folks,
Today I pushed a relatively risky update to the Ship Wall Enhanced Mod. I’ve removed almost all stuff material requirements from the Cabin buildings. As a result, their recipes are now much more explicitly defined.

Why did I make this change?

It all started as an art issue. Initially, I added stuff requirements to these Cabin structures so they could be airtight, which made sense at the time. However, in RimWorld, buildings made from stuff inherit the color of the material used—for example, steel tends to darken textures. This unintended tinting really ruined the visual aesthetics.

To counter this, I tried the shadowcomplex method—adding extra textures to override the color shifts. Unfortunately, this introduced an even worse problem: jagged white edges around many of the buildings. I tried everything I could think of, but I couldn’t eliminate them completely. If you look closely at some of the vanilla stuff-based buildings in RimWorld, like beds, you’ll notice similar white artifacts too.

Eventually, I realized it wasn't worth it. I decided to drop the stuff airtight property and instead enable airtight functionality directly through XML settings. This allowed me to keep the clean visuals without relying on hacky workarounds.

I understand this might disappoint some players, especially those who liked building their Cabins out of uranium or other exotic materials. It may even cause issues with existing buildings in current saves. Still, I believe this tradeoff was necessary to maintain better visual fidelity. A short-term pain for long-term gain.

The update is live now. I’m not entirely sure how everyone will feel about it, so please let me know your thoughts—feedback is always welcome!

to make some typ of sport to build and just not placeing them. Silver would be great option I guess. Silver and mabe plaststeel for the larger ones.
I really prefered the option to make them Silver or Gold. The walls give a -10 to beauty but they're to be used as cabin walls? The debuff makes the pawns really unhappy with their rooms. I lose as much space to beautify the room than I gain from using the walls. :cactuar:

Thanks for your feedback Alkemyst! this is a really novel idea. I really hadn’t thought about the impact of aesthetics on a room before. I will think about if there's any other way to fix this issue.

Maybe reduce the wall value to -4? I think making it 0 would be way too OP. (edit: changed room to wall as I felt it was misleading)
