There's also the issue of the current code being optimized for NPCs. For example, NPCs spawn on AI nodes without regard for density, etc. If I spawned weapons the same way it wouldn't look/work very well.
If I end up deciding to write up this feature I'll probably make it its own addon.
Thank you for responding, it's nice to see a developer respond for once... Anyway I believe this suggestion would be a great idea, separate addon or not. I like to optimize my gaming experience with the best survival features and such an extra would improve this addon greatly. Thanks again for responding.

How did you manage to do it? I set item_ammo_smg1 as NPC and didn't touch anything else.
