how do i recruit the aliens?
I feel a bit daft but i'm not quite sure how to recruit the aliens, or if there is some point in the story when i am able to do it..i know i need to research the alien and have a certain facility (the foundry i believe) built before i can do so. Any assistance is greatly appreciated

You need to make sure you haven't done any of the autopsy before using this mode. Once you've done one, you unlock it in the foundry.

It'll be things like Cloned Viper, Reprogrammed Muton, Jury-rigged Mec and so on

ohh!!! thats how i screwed up last time, i went ahead and did a sectoid autopsy before having the foundry

even if you have, you can always get "Allies Unknown" and nab the playable aliens PoC mod for that, and then just hire one. granted, you'll have to raise them up the old fashioned way, but it's handy if you missed one.
