Custom Loot Tables for Compatibility with Grimy's Loot and other Mods
Custom Loot Tables for Compatibility with Grimy's Loot and other Mods

First, I must inform you that these tables were intended for individuals who had subscribed to Grimy's Loot Mod and Ashlynne's Loot Pinata Mod, allowing them to work in conjunction with each other.

Recently, as of this writing, I have made custom loot tables for various reasons. But to put it simply, I just wanted this mod to work with the mods that I have. I have never edited loot tables before but it took me a bit to get a gist of the structure of things.

Following are the mods that I made custom loot tables for to work with Loot Pinatas:
- Grimy's Loot
- Bio Trooper
- Draco Enemy
- Valentine Viper
- Long War: A Better Advent Guest Enemies

The Mediafire Download Link of these tables can be found here: http://pastebin.com/4V6Nuh7R

Included in the .rar are the modified XComGameCore.ini (where the loot tables are located) for their respective mods, some references I used to guide and help me create these tables and folders with the mod name and mod ID for easier identification.

I can confirm that it had worked on the Valentine Vipers and some of the early LW:ABA ADVENT. However, I haven't fully tested it yet - meaning every enemy unit type that should be affected by these tables. And also be informed that the tables may not be properly balanced in one way or another. For balancing, I referenced off the original Loot Pinata XComGameCore.ini and a modified XComGameCore.ini for Grimy's loot and did a lot of comparing what kind of loot is expected of a certain enemy type.

As a continue on with my campaign, I may get a proper feel of what may seem balanced (a subjective opinion, of course) and update the uploaded files.

As this is not fully tested, please use at your own risk. But so far nothing is broken and it hasn't crashed my game despite about 12 hours of play - which is always a good thing. Otherwise, I will not be held responsible for any unfortunate incidents that may possibly happen if you use these custom loot tables. I advise you to make backups of the mod's original XComGameCore.inis before using the ones I provided.

Otherwise, you could just resubscribe to the mods to download the mods' files anew.

Again, this is my first time customizing loot tables so it's possible that I'm doing it wrong... but it's working.

I would like to credit @edgarcabrera for providing his version of the custom loot tables for Grimy's Loot which I originally used. It provided a useful reference for me to dabble into creating these loot tables. And I would also like to thank @Ashlynne for the mod and for allowing me to share my loot tables with all of you in hopes that it would spare you the frustration and time spent in creating your own tables.

Happy Looting, Commander.

Hey. Thanks for letting me know that there's something wrong with the link. It's negligence on my part... :L I've updated the pasted link. I'd appreciate if you'd check if the link works so that this wouldn't happen again.

Hello, I've tried again and now I can download the file. Thank you for this!!!

Just one remark, the link is not working with Mac, for some reason I've got this "too many redirects" error, but it could be my network setup. But if you use a Window machine, there's no problem.

Huh, that's interesting to know. A pity that the link doesn't work without issues on the Mac. I hope you'll enjoy the custom tables.

Yes, but I think it's more a issues related to mediafire. Anyhow, thank you again!

Have fun, man. :D
If someone could give me an instruction on how to paste this so that grimy's loot and pinatas work together, that'll be great. Because I seriously don't see any instructions nor could find another XcomGameCore.ini to replace with the pastebin one you posted.

EDIT: alright so i found two XcomGameCore.ini. One for Grimy's and one for Pinatas. Am i suppose to only replace Pinatas with that pastebin edited one, or Grimy's (or both)?

Hey. While I understand I didn't make any explicit mention on instructions in the original post. It should be as simple as replacing the mod's XcomGameCore.ini with the ones I provided.

In your case, find the folder labeled "Grimy's Loot - 650277509", use the number ID to find Grimy's Loot in "...\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500" and just replace the XcomGameCore.ini. Just make sure to make backups so you can always retry if something goes wrong. c:

Also, the .inis found in the "Reference" folder or just typically any .ini not labeled as "XcomGameCore.ini" are not intended to be used to replace mod .inis. The Reference folder is just there to be used as a guide for creating your own custom loot tables as this is what I used to do mine. Since I have no experience in modding or creating loot tables, these references were invaluable in making this happen.

Wait so i didn't need to replace pinatas .ini files? I've added you to talk since its easier that way

I found the 650277509 folder but when i opened it up i found that it was empty.

Wouldn't it be empty if the mod wasn't installed?
