Game Mechanics: About skill balance, usefulness, and level locks.
[ Copy paste from other post, that might be something important i run into consideration when making tests and trying to think of balancing out things. This could be a "breaking input" since, as result of my testing and reasonings, i run into a single conclussion:

Optimus way to balance may mean a total rework on how skills are unlocked and enhanced. Maybe not exactly "hard to mod", but definitely it would be a major change on how TL2 is played ]

Fromnow on and to avoid confussion i´d like to introduce some concepts to the mod forum

"regular attacks" - Any spammable skill that could be using as main attack, hence spameable somehow.

"Max skills" - Endgame nukes, usually the "seventh skill" of each tree. (middle bottom just aboce passives)

-----

I´ve run into a curious dilemma. [many] skills are "regular attacks". Problem is, it is totally not worth to invest points on few different regular attacks. Each one has its advantages, but those are not enough as to justify having more than one of them. If any of those skills were able to be choosen from the beggining, then it would be no problem - any1 could pick just the one they fit the most, and ther wont be any balance issue because they are paired on power

But since they need certain level cap to be obtained, some nice "regular attack" skills are not used simply because by the time u get them, u already are familiar with another skill wich u already put points on it.

Sure, you can restat and switch to that new skill. But few points there:

1- As the skills are somehow "balanced" and paired wich each other, whats really th epoint on having some of them behind a level cap?

2- Why would you change ur regular attack at level 35, for example, after being used to another skill u alredy got from much earlier?

Maybe it would be a good idea rethink the game mechanics. And change some level caps. ATm i can think of a genetal scheme:

MAKE all skills EXCEPT the MAX SKILLS available from level 1. AND set caps just to their upgrade.

Each skill has 15 levels, and character level is 100, So after thinking a fair progression i came up with this

CHARACTER LEVEL: SKILL LEVEL MAX SKILL LEVEL

1 1 0

2 2 0

3 3 0

5 4 0

7 5 0

10 6 0

15 7 0

20 8 0

25 9 1

30 10 2

35 11 3

40 12 5

45 13 6

50 14 7

55 15 8

60 (Already maxed) 9

65 10

70 11

75 12

80 13

85 14

90 15

Thoughts? I know its a major change, but it makes really more sense than vanilla system, imo.
