Torchlight II

TL2-ACE

A Matter of Compatibility
The Mod's description has no mention of how compatible it is with others, Synergies, T2 Essentials, etc. I'd like to know if this mod is intended to be played singularly, which would be most regrettable, if not It would be much appreciated if a list of compatible, incompatible and notes on the matter were available.

I've been running TL2-ACE with Synergies + Essentials and the Syn/Ess Patch in the following load order;

TL2-ACE
Synergies and Essentials Patch
Torchlight II Essentials
SynergiesMOD

I've only run into one bug which is that regular stash does not work with this mod installed, although the shared stash does.

On top of that, the stash is substantially smaller than normal.

I do hope the developers are able to rectify that conflict but beyond that the mod's been smooth sailing for me with Syn/Ess.

All of these work with this mod for me:

The Toy Collector
Variant Pets
almost any character class mod
I recently added a mod that has exotic skin and hair colors (Erdrobon's? something - can't remember the full name)

EDIT on 7/5/2024: Using the Exotic Skin and Hair Colors mod removes the starting clothing for a few (not all) of the TL2-ACE classes, making them naked in the selection screen. They WILL be clothed as soon as you equip some in-game gear. If Exotic Skins and Hair Colors is placed below TL2-ACE, it no longer works, so that is not a fix for this issue.

Variant Classes does work except that it dumbs down a certain Phase Portal, reducing the blobs to easy-kill stuff, so I got rid of that one and have been slowly adding character class mods of my own choosing.

I personally use the mod as stand alone however I know from feedback that other players use Essentials and/or Synergies etc without issue.

The most important thing to access the new content is to ensure act4 town is not overwritten.

Also thank you Blakeland + HiFive for sharing your experience and providing a load order - most appreciated.

Here's my personal mod load order in early 2024:

Generic Rewards Multi classmod - fix
Skill Points x2
Running Wild
Get To Da Chopper
TL2-ACE
Syn_Throwing_Weapons
FEP+
Dungeon Challenge ReMod
Abysm
Torchlight II Essentials

I confirm with Blakeland (1st comment) above that Ace above Essentials (this issue is when both mods are present) breaks the Stash although the Shared Stash is functional.

Other players report a functional Stash when Essentials is above Ace.

As noted by Corley: the vanilla Minehead Act_04 Town needs to be kept (Ace kept higher in the Load Order) from being overruled by other mod layouts (if they change it) to ensure that the Npc who teleports the player to Act_05 is present after defeating the Netherlord quest (to access the Ace maps).

I need to ask HiFive if the Variant Classes mod still breaks vanilla Tarroch's Tomb (not to be mistaken for the separate and newly added Tarroch's Trials within Ace) although this specific issue is not related to Ace mod directly.

Darkthan's Class Packs (1 and 2) affect vanilla class skill UI hence will override that (and null some vanilla skills) if present in the load order although some players report getting both packs to function (those players didn't mention if the vanilla skills were null). This issue is also not specific to the Ace mod. Worth noting in case players try those mods.

It's been quite a while since I removed the Variant Classes mod from my mod list, so I'm a tad fuzzy on the details. However, it definitely changed the blobs in the Act V Tarroch's Tomb, and I'm fairly certain that the actual phase portal in the earlier Acts was also changed.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the included character mods deliberately changed that portal, since so many people thought the portal was bugged and unplayable back then. After I posted the correct way to kill everything in there, I think a lot of people like that portal now. It's certainly one of my favorite portals.

Thanks for that feedback. It seems that Ace mod's only real downside (as that info is requested by the discussion maker above) is the issue being above the Essentials mod breaking the personal Stash.

All the other issues we can think of involve other mod issues not related to Ace directly.

Inventory mods tend to have issues with each other hence that's also not specific to Ace itself.

One piece of advice a player wrote to me is that if Ace is added into a Load Order that already has active Synergies saved characters, that it's best to copy-paste and move away those pre-existing character-saves as there may be issues with those characters.

So begin new characters when using Ace and Synergies together for best results.

Hi... vendors not selling stat respec if using "Skill Points X2 (v1.1)" pointed earlier. the order doesnt matter.
So... maybe not exactly compatible... then... any known alternatives?
BTW, Skill respec still sold by vendors.

There's some other mod options for x-points however all would have to be tested to know for certain.
Thanks for the report.

Hi, latest find:
"Respec / Restat Potion" by Gopher works to somewhat fix the bug caused by Skill Points X2 in ACE. No idea what it does differently.
Tested it both before and after the mod list, in new game and old savegames with ACE. Wich one is best, before or after, any clear rule? Nothing else feels broken, for now.

OBS: Sometimes his potions didnt show on general vendor in older chars, but always did at blacksmiths.

Hope this info helps. Ty for your time. And all the team, for ACE.

Huge thanks for the info and testing done with Gopher's mod.
It appears that Skill Points X2 mod is somehow being overridden by Gopher's mod.
Ideally; Gopher's mod would be placed above Skill Points X2.
That may affect whether the potions show in the General Vendor.

Thanks again for your time as well. Much appreciated helping Ace players to resolve issues.

If you install Inventory Upgrade Plus and place it on the top of the load order you can get your stash working just remember to clear your inventory and save your stuff on the shared stash before installing.

My load order:

Better Sorting
Inventory Upgrade Plus
TL2 ACE
Skill use LMB
Auto Consume
TL2 Essentials

Load order tested and extremely fun:

Brother-in-Arms: Warbounds
TL2 plus 8 Pet Slots (v.2)
Synergies High Loot and Low Pop Merged
F&J Boss Health+
Inventory Upgrade Plus (v.25) //for compatibility thx Caenis
Diablo III UI Updated
TL2-ACE
Synergies and Essentials Compatibility Patch
Torchlight II Essentials

Thank you ACE team for all your work, T2 still strong in 2025 =)

Edit: Final list NG+, also try Reshade with just two effects - Adaptive Sharpen at 50% and HDR at 1.2 it's better then any texture pack, couldn't believe what a difference it made
